do you etsy?

Are you an Etsy fan yet? This community of crafty people is all about buying, selling and living handmade by connecting makers of one-of-a-kind, funky items with buyers who appreciate their uniqueness. If you love finding treasures for your babes and yourself that are anything but run of the mill, you’ll love Etsy. But be warned, once you start poking about you’ll find it hard to stop.
Here’s a sprinkling of just a few of our fave Etsy finds. Local mama Kristin Rasmussen is the designer behind Mette where you’ll find fab A-line dresses for girls in fun, modern, amazing prints. She also makes a piece or two for mamas. The felt food we found over at Plush Off was rather mouthwatering. We were torn between the Sparkle Pink Lollipop, the Raspberry Pie and the Safety Cone Pylons. Okay, those weren’t food, but they were pretty darn cute. And the upcycled and organic bedding, toys, car seat organizers and more from SewnNatural had us browsing for ages.
Phew, that’s just scratching the surface and we’ve only focused on Canadian-made products for kids, though we did detour into handbags briefly…
And Etsy’s not just for shopping. Say you’re a crafty mama who wants to share your wares? Etsy is a great way to test the market and see what works and what doesn’t. Lots of local entrepreneurial mamas got started there.
With Halloween fast approaching those of us who are better at supporting those who make handmade things rather than making them ourselves will find Etsy the perfect place to hunt for costumes that beat anything you’ll find at the mall. We’d recommend starting your spooky shopping at her flying Horses.
But the best thing about Etsy is that with hundreds of thousands of sellers in over 150 countries you’re bound to find something for every taste, style and budget.
