It’s a weekend of great festivals and family-friendly fun.

Wooden Boat Festival:Granville Island: You can check out boats of all shapes and sizes, including a 40′ replica Viking ship and an 18th century Spanish long boat. Plus there’s the family boat building competition, boat building for kids behind Kids’ Market and Cats Social House from 11 am to 3 pm each day, live music and lots more wooden fun.

Kids and art go hand in hand as kids are all about creativity, imagination and creation. And speaking of creation, Erin Boniferro, local artist and art teacher, is about to open Collage Collage, a workshop, store and gallery with a pint-sized focus near Fraser and 15th. This is just across the street from Wee One Reruns, down the block from Les Faux Bourgeois and right next door to RubyDog’s Art House, and we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek ahead of time.
