“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” ~ Margaret Mead
Well, what about a group of small committed citizens? These days it’s becoming as important to teach our kids about environmental sustainability as it is to teach them their three Rs. The Idbids award-winning trio of über-green, plush toys is all about helping kids discover how they can help keep the earth happy, healthy and green and getting them committed while they’re young.
The Idbids gang includes Scout, a cloud who knows all about air; Lola, a flower who can talk trees and plants; and Waverly, a water drop who’s well-versed on water. Their organic cotton exteriors owe their vibrant colours to natural organic dyes, and they’re stuffed with organic cotton as well.
Each one comes in a jam-packed starter kit containing an organic cotton backpack which is perfect for toting your Idbid about, a storybook printed on recycled paper using eco-friendly ink and a field guide of tasks along the easy-to-understand lines of turning off the water when you’re brushing your teeth. When you’ve completed all the tasks you can go online and create a personalized certificate of completion. Even the packaging is made from recycled and eco-friendly materials and includes paper doll cutouts.
The Idbids are also huggable, chewable and fun. After all if you’re going to add stuffies to your child’s collection, it’ll make you feel a little better if they’re green ones. And if you find that the environmental messages seem to be going over your child’s head, remember they’re still ingesting all the messages you’re sending, as you’ll discover when they suddenly tell someone to turn out the lights, turn off the tap, or wear a helmet on their bike. Okay, the last one’s not green but it’s one of our tots’ faves.
After all, every iddy biddy bit helps.

We carry the Idbids at The Granville Island Toy Company. What I love about them is how the Idbids were “born”: A mom who wanted to teach her young kids about the importance of environmental sustainability realized very quickly the topic can be very boring to a little one – but add the element of fun… and voila! Our future generations start learning from an early age why it’s so important to protect Mother Earth – and best of all: “iddy-biddy” steps is all it takes to be a part of the team!
We’re so excited to be able to introduce the Idbids that we’ll give Yoyomama’s 20% OFF an Idbids Starter Pack of your choice! Just let us know that you’re a Yoyomama!
