Craft fairs are fab places for finding one-of-kind gifts and goodies, but the hard-core craft fair season won’t hit town for a few more months. ‘Til then if you’re on the hunt for something unique, local and crafty then look no farther than 3H Craftworks.

A long time staple on 4th Avenue, the not-for-profit 3H Craftworks recently moved from their spot just West of Arbutus to a new locale at 4th and Yew, but other than their location not much has changed. And that’s a good thing. They still sell a great collection of baby and kids toys and clothes made by adults with physical challenges and/or mental illnesses living in Vancouver, Richmond and North Van.

Aside from their practically iconic Lowly Worm – of Richard Scarry’s Busy Town stories – you’ll find an incredibly extensive collection of felt stories or flannelgraphs which is bound to include one of your tot’s favourites. They’ve got everything from Goodnight Moon to Dear Zoo to Hush Little Baby. Whether you use them to tell your kids their favourite tales or they use them to act out the stories themselves, they’re bound to add a new dimension to your storytelling prowess.

Other finds include tooth fairy pillows, hooded towels, duck feet slippers and bibs and blankies. Come holiday time it’s also a great spot to snag decorations and accessories, including a reusable advent calendar. Aside from being a prime locale to pick up great gifts, 3H also gives new meaning to shopping locally and supporting your local economy.

And if you’re out and about over the summer look for them at the Pride Parade this Sunday, Kitsilano Hippie Daze in mid-August and Portobello West at month’s end.
