This contest is now closed. Congratulations to our winner, Laura Dato.

Our June contest is from Jenn Di Spirito Photography and it’s fabulous.  You could win a complimentary session – which includes a planning session, the shoot and an ordering session – plus an 11” x 14” wall print – valued at $475.

Local photog Jenn Di Spirito is all about finding the extraordinary in everyday moments and immortalizing them on film. Known for her ability to capture the unique aspects of each and every family she works with, Di Spirito starts her process with a planning session where she meets your family and discovers how to bring out your best. On the day of your shoot Di Spirito creates a fun, natural session and then she wraps everything up with a slideshow of all the beautiful images from your session to help you narrow down your faves. A mum herself, she’s an expert at capturing authentic, contemporary, colourful portraits of your family – and they make great art for your home too!

WOW… These are some of the most amazing photographs I have ever seen… the locations are very well thought out to match personalities… the pregnancy and newborn pics make me think about getting pregnant again just so I can get some beautiul pictures…

  2. paula on June 2nd, 2009 9:17 am

One of us is always behind the lens, so our pictures all include child and parent, but I would love to see some with child and BOTH parents! What a treat! I loved the forest location you used for one of the shoots on your website.

  3. Leah Dixon on June 2nd, 2009 9:28 am

Our family is finally complete, with the birth of our youngest a year ago. I would like to capture our everyday life as it is now – with me (the normal photographer) included.

  4. Tanya on June 2nd, 2009 10:15 am

For the past four years I have always had professional photos of my two children taken in April. Well it is now June and I still haven’t done it yet! I would love to have Jenn take some wonderful photos of our beautiful babies, and maybe even daddy and I can make an appearance for once?!

  5. Jen on June 2nd, 2009 11:24 am

We had professional portraits done of our daughter when she was one, but she’s 2 1/2 now! We’re hoping to do it again for her 3rd birthday. If we could get all of us in, that would be even better – hello instant Christmas gifts! Plus considering the creative pics on Jenn’s website, I’m sure they would beat the homemade family portraits we did at Christmas.

  6. Amber on June 2nd, 2009 1:44 pm

We just had our first and he surprised us by being a month early and we are so happy! We cant afford professional photos so we would love to get our little man photographed by a pro!

  7. Lisa G on June 2nd, 2009 11:45 pm

Well, we haven’t had any photos done of our family yet. We decided that I would not go back to work but would stay at home with our little guy as we are only planning to have one child. This means that ‘splurging’ on family photos is not in the budget for quite some time. Our little guy is 20 months old and our dog will be nine this summer. We would love to have some outdoor family photos done at the beach where we all love to spend our time! It would be great to have this opportunity.

  8. Sarah F on June 3rd, 2009 8:01 am

I vow to be the mother that has complete albums of ALL of her children! I am expecting number three in August and would love to capture memories with our added family member.

  9. Carla on June 3rd, 2009 8:18 am

Who wouldn’t want to capture the beautiful innocence of ones children, and to all be in the photo, that would be ideal. Such an amazing photographer, it would be an honour to have her capturing those magic moments of family smiles!

  10. Michelle K. on June 3rd, 2009 9:01 am

We would love to have the opportunity to be photographed by such a wonderful photographer to capture us with our little miracle baby girl. After years of infertility struggles and thousands and thousands of dollars spent on making this miracle happen, Tayleigh was born with the help of a gestational surrogate last July. Her 1 year birthday is coming up and what better way to cherish that occasion than with a photo shoot to capture that moment!! :-)

  11. Milisa Gardy on June 3rd, 2009 10:41 am

As is common with a lot of other moms, I am the one behind the camera on most occasions. It would be wonderful to work with a professional photographer and be able to relax in front of the camera. It’s always amazing to see yourself from another persons perspective. Thanks for this opportunity to be photographed with my sweet family.

  12. Sally on June 3rd, 2009 11:41 am

Our baby girl was born 12 weeks ago. We love her dearly. She has down syndrome. As we adjust to that fact, we find that celebrating her as we would any child helps us see the child before the condition. A professional portrait would be a wonderful way to share her with our family and friends.

  13. Christina on June 3rd, 2009 11:49 am

We’ve never had professional snaps taken – we didn’t even hire a photographer for our wedding! I would really like to get a few good shots of the kids and maybe even our dog – it’s too hard for me to get everyone together and still get a good shot. Thank you.

  14. Melissa on June 3rd, 2009 1:12 pm

I pretend to be a good photographer, but my photos never really come out as frame worthy. Professional photos always seem to capture the moment and look fabulous over the fireplace mantle too. Jenn is really talented! I would be so happy to have pictures of my family at our new home (moving in this month!) to cherish for years (and to send to all the relatives overseas)

  15. Laura W on June 3rd, 2009 1:19 pm

I am almost 8 months pregnant now and would LOVE to have some shots of my husband, 22 month old and I – all in one picture! It is very rare to have all of us in one photo, let alone with my pregnant belly!!

  16. Sheril G on June 3rd, 2009 4:07 pm

I would love to have Jenn try her hand at capturing my mischevious monkey son and my angel/devil daughter, and, oh, yea, it would be nice to have one with my husband and myself looking nice, focused and relaxed. I think this would be a challenge -but so very worthwhile! We are so busy that capturing these moments are both precious and challenging – who remembers to bring the camera?

  17. Shera C on June 3rd, 2009 10:05 pm

I often find that my two little monkeys do the the cutes or funniest things, then I run for the camera…but the moment is gone. It would be amazing to have a professional like Jenn who could capture a few of these memorable moments for me and my family.

  18. Rachel C on June 3rd, 2009 11:41 pm

Family portraits are very special because your babies grow and develop so quickly during the first year. It’s important to capture these moments before they pass us by.

  19. Helen W. on June 4th, 2009 12:50 am

Jenn, checked out your blog. Luv your pics and your comments about what to wear for a photo shoot. I have a great idea for celebrating my son’s first birthday that involves you, our family and blue cupcakes!

  20. Jenn on June 4th, 2009 6:57 am

I would love to have Jenn take some pictures of my beautiful family! What a treasure!

  21. Pinder Sekhon on June 4th, 2009 8:57 am

Our family has been through a very difficult time over the last year and a half. Unfortunately it all started while I was pregnant so we haven’t had too much time to take family pictures with our beautiful 13 month old daughter. A chance to have family pictures taken by a very talented photographer would be a great gift!

  22. Haley on June 4th, 2009 9:39 am

Beautiful photos it would be a treat to have Jenn capture our growing family.

  23. Jodi Brown on June 4th, 2009 11:44 am

My family has been talking of having family pictures taken for some time. Our girls are 4 and 2 and we have had no formal pictures taken! Jenn’s website has beautiful photos. We love the natural settings too. But most of all, Jenn sounds very warm and personable, and would surely put our family at ease immediately!

  24. Nikki Drechsler on June 4th, 2009 2:56 pm

So beautiful. I love them. What beautiful families. I would love to have some shots like that to remember this precious time with!

  25. Jen on June 4th, 2009 6:38 pm

I love Jenn’s photos. Having my first baby soon and would be thrilled to have someone this talented taking the first photos of my baby!

  26. Gwen on June 4th, 2009 7:01 pm

It would be really nice to have some pictures of all 4 of us. The timer pictures don’t really do any of us justice.

  27. Joanna on June 4th, 2009 10:28 pm

I was never sure about being a mother… I had Baby #1 in April, 2007 and Baby #2 in Sept, 2008 (London and Teaghan). Now that we’re done having babies, I find Im wishing time would slow down for us so I could enjoy Teaghan a bit more than I think I enjoyed London’s baby stage. Some really skookum pix would help with that. It’s amazing how fast they grown up, isn’t it? London is saying a new word everyday now and Teaghan is trying to crawl and cruise. They’ll be going to school before I blink and graduating before I can exhale.

  28. Andrea on June 5th, 2009 6:54 am

It would just be amazing to be able to have professional photos done of the 3 of us :)

  29. Megan on June 5th, 2009 10:22 am

It would be awesome to have some family photoes to capture our lives right now. Professional photos just aren’t in the budget these days, but I know the all our relatives (and me too) would love it if we got them done!

  30. Darleane on June 5th, 2009 12:43 pm

I think that life goes by way too fast especially when you have little ones. They change too quickly and photos is a way to capture those precious moments that happen everyday! A photo shoot of our family would be wonderful!

  31. Janine on June 5th, 2009 3:18 pm

My husband and I moved here from the UK a few years ago and now have a beautiful baby daughter and a pooch. The rest of our families are all over the globe and they only get to see little Miss Charlotte through the photos we send (the visits are few and far between). It would be such a gift to be able to send some wonderful, professional photos, I know it would warm all our hearts!

  32. Sandra on June 6th, 2009 11:24 am

Jenn really captures the beauty of the children and family. It would be great to have photos taken of the three of us TOGETHER! Usually one parent is behind the camera taking photos of our child and the other parent.

  33. Laura B. on June 6th, 2009 10:05 pm

My little angel is growing up SO fast! And it would be so nice to capture our family as it is now, so we can remember it forever. My house is in need of some beautiful family photos on our walls!

  34. Dana on June 7th, 2009 3:10 pm

I have been thinking lately that I would love to get a photographer in to capture our family bed arrangement. While I sometimes long for the day that my two children move on to their own rooms, I know the day will come too soon where I miss snuggling in between their sleeping bodies. It would be great to capture an image of this special time.

  35. Leanne Harris on June 8th, 2009 9:04 am

Simply put, I would love to have my beautiful 1 year old’s beautiful face and personality captured on film by a professional. I am a stay at home mom for the most part now and can’t really afford such novelties at this time. I will keep my fingers crossed. Cheers!

  36. Kathleen Chung on June 8th, 2009 10:56 am

What a beautiful site Jenn Di Spirito Photography has!! My husband and I have been talking about getting portraits done of our 6 month old daughter who is the apple of our eyes! The past 6 months have flown by and we would love to her sweet little face captured on film by a professional. Seeing as we are still paying off our wedding photos (from four years ago!), it would be a wonderful treat if we won a session with Jenn.

  37. Kathy on June 8th, 2009 2:12 pm

We have no family photos up on our wall yet, and, with a beautiful 1-year-old son, we really need to get to it. We did have a family portrait taken at Sears when our son was 2 months old but we were so dissapointed in it. I guess you get what you pay for!

  38. Sheeba [ask me for a free sample of Momma Nature's products!] on June 8th, 2009 2:36 pm

We would love to have an uber talented professional capture our family moments! Our digital camera is mostly filled with shots of only our son, many not so great ones. Hard to capture a wriggling, squirming, can’t-sit-still-for-one-moment shots! It would be so fantastic to be able to have some beautiful frame-worthy shots of all three of us!

  39. Vanessa on June 8th, 2009 9:17 pm

I appear to have already fallen into the second child syndrome trap….due at the end of July I don’t even have more than a couple of pregnancy photos and fear that this wonderful #2 is already being neglected in-utero! Life is hectic with our two-year old (potty training and transition to a bed just complete), jobs, a coach house build, and indoor renovations too – would love to be able to pause, take a deep breath, and capture some family moments on film as Jenn does so beautifully…

  40. Tracy on June 9th, 2009 4:17 am

I love how Jenn captures the family together, in natural ways. She is very talented. We’ve never had professional shots done, and I think it is time we did!

  41. harjoat on June 9th, 2009 8:53 am

wonderful photographer, we are always behind the camera it’s nice to be on the other side

  42. luciana on June 9th, 2009 8:55 am

We had a portrait done before Xmas but baby has grown so much would love to have another now!! She seems a really great photographer

  43. Alison on June 9th, 2009 9:45 am

Our latest addition arrived on April 24th. We are thrilled but very busy with him and his very active older brother. We’ve taken some of our own shots but they never include the whole family nor are they anything like the quality shown in Jenn’s photos. We would love to have a set of her wonderful photos to commemorate our expanding family.

  44. Courtney on June 9th, 2009 12:42 pm

Mom=Photographer and therefore 99% of my pictures are of my son, my son and the dog, my son and his dad. I think it would be great to have an opportunity to get everyone in a picture to mark a piece of time that goes by way too fast!

  45. Jan on June 9th, 2009 8:58 pm

We would do just about anything to have photos of our family as beautiful as Jenn’s site. We have a 2.5 year old and another due in September, but have never had family photos taken, other than setting up our own timer. What an inspiration she is!

  46. Melody on June 10th, 2009 8:16 am

Having a photo session with Jenn would be a dream come true for me and my family! Our daughter will be 2 in July and we’re due to have another baby in August. How wonderful and special it would be to capture the family after our new baby is born! We’ve never had professional photos taken and what a great memory they would make! I’ve looked at Jenn’s webpage before and love her photos and the way she captures the personalities of each family she photographs!

  47. lucia on June 10th, 2009 8:47 am

I love her pics they look very fresh, very real and beautiful at the same time, capture the love of family welcoming a new child

  48. margherita on June 10th, 2009 8:50 am

Wow beautiful pictures, her name is perfect, di spirito, of the spirit, as she captures the spirit of family, the spirit of fun and curiosity of the children, the marveling to a new life, just begun or still in the tummy!

  49. Julie on June 10th, 2009 3:34 pm

There are so many photographers out there and as much as we have wanted to pick one and have professional photos taken, we have had no idea who to choose for quality, price, and capturing our baby in the best possible way (despite that she never sits still for us….). So this has resulted in us never doing it, but so wanting to. It is reassuring to have the yoyomama website guide me in the right direction. Jenn di Spirito photography would be a wonderful choice.

  50. Sara on June 11th, 2009 8:39 am

She’s a magnificent photographer. My family has never had professional photos taken of us. I’m regretting this having seen Jenn’s photographs. Fingers crossed we’re picked as the lucky family.

  51. marghe on June 11th, 2009 8:43 am

Beautiful pics, we love pics they are the one thing I would save in a fire and this photographer is really good

  52. Nikki on June 11th, 2009 9:12 am

We have one son, Jayden, who will be turning 1 in July. Jayden was born in Vancouver, as my husband and I relocated here from Florida a few years ago. While we love life in the Lower Mainland, our families, who we are very close to, are very very far away (still in Florida). It is especially hard for me, as I am very close to my parents, and I feel like they are missing their first grandson’s early years. Luckily, they will be able to come up for a visit for his first birthday- a family photoshoot, with grandparents, parents, and our son, would be such a special way to capture this milestone.

  53. Csilla on June 11th, 2009 9:16 am

Well, the last professional photo shoot I had was about 20 years ago, and now my little guy is 2 years old -would be nice to have some good photos of us together.

  54. giulia on June 11th, 2009 10:58 am

to have a keen eye help celebrate our whole family (we have 2 young daughters) via photography. we’ve got “the spot” and are looking for “the photo”.

  55. Allison on June 12th, 2009 9:41 am

I would love to have at least one nice photo of my husband, 6-month old daughter and I! We have yet to capture one. Jenn’s photos are beautiful and it would be incredible to have someone with her gift to take our photos. Even with a decent camera, you can’t beat the eye (and the beautiful compositions) of a talented photograher!

  56. Lisa on June 12th, 2009 10:07 am

I checked out Jenn’s site, and pictures, the last time they were featured on yoyomama and they impressed me so much I sat my husband down that night to show him the galleries, it takes a lot for me to be able to remember something all day! We emigrated from the UK two years ago and now have a three year old and a six month old. We’re a very outdoors family and the chance to capture us all together in a place we love (rather than a studio) would be priceless. It might also help ease that guilt I feel about the grandparents back home a little. It’s such an incredible time in the life a family and it goes so incredibly quickly, I’d love to have something on the wall that we could look at everyday to appreciate just how lucky we are.

  57. Meredith on June 12th, 2009 10:53 am

What a talent! I have now bookmarked her site and blog. We now realize the importance of capturing not only the milestones, but also the wonder of the everyday. Her style is so clean and natural; we would be overjoyed to have her take our photos.

  58. Martha S on June 12th, 2009 2:31 pm

Great contest! Picture taking has become an almost daily activity since our daughter was born 2 years ago because both my family as well as my husband’s live far away (Mexico and Ontario). So they have seen our little girl grow up through the pictures we send. What a wonderful opportunity to share professional shots by a talented eye, instead of the never ending out of focus, too dark, or sometimes fingertip included pics.

  59. Erica on June 14th, 2009 10:57 am

I’ve been able to see Jenn’s work for the past few years and it always blows me away. What a great prize this would be to win. Whoever wins will be over the moon with the quality of her work and the moments she captures.

  60. Heather on June 14th, 2009 8:25 pm

What a great photographer! My biggest regret is that we have no professional photos of the kids and family (as like most – I take all the photos, so I am nowhere to be seen). I would love to have some photos done in our home – our sail boat. The 2 kids love to play with the wheel, climb the mast and hang from the lines. They also love to kayak around False Creek. It will take someone far more skilled that I to take these photos. I tend to miss “the moments”. I would love someone to capture the essence of our lives on the boat and on the water.

  61. Kristi and James on June 16th, 2009 7:34 am

We would love to have pics of our growing family done by this talented photographer. Beautiful pictures!

  62. kristen on June 16th, 2009 1:30 pm

jenn has a knack for catching “the moment” We don’t have any family shots and our 2nd is coming up 1 year old in July. What a treat to have some shots by her!!!!

  63. Melanie Fast on June 16th, 2009 10:41 pm

I would love to finally get some professional photos done with my husband and son. We have not yet had any done and have very few photos of all three of us in the same shot. What I love about your style is it is very natural, the photos seem to really portray the individuality and personality of your subjects. Very playful and colourful. Beautiful. well done.

  64. Melanie Hoffman on June 18th, 2009 10:11 pm

Life goes by so so fast, especially when you measure it by how quickly your children are growing. Sometimes all I want to do is hit pause. Now, I know that’s not really possible, but some wonderful professional photos that capture their childhood and our enjoyment of it could help!

  65. anna on June 19th, 2009 12:16 pm

I think I can count on one hand the number of photos I am in with any of my three children. I am the one always behind the lens, and in fact I even photoshopped myself into a picture once! I’d love to have a great family shot of the five of us!

  66. Tam on June 19th, 2009 10:12 pm

My husband and I both love taking lots of photos, but we get so caught up in taking photos of just our little guy. Whenever I look back at the last year of photos (our little boy is just over a year now), I regret not having more family pictures. This would be a great opportunity to have some done — and professionally to boot.

  67. Rachel on June 22nd, 2009 9:57 am

I’d love to have some beautiful, professional, FAMILY photos taken, rather than just with Dad or Mum. I’d also love to have someone who’s experienced in capturing the sweet, innocent moments in a toddler’s daily life. My little one is just starting to walk at 10 months, and there are some precious moments to be sure!

  68. Susan on June 23rd, 2009 8:00 am

It is rare for us to have a family picture taken but I do treasure the few that we have. It is always great to have a professional take them who can capture those natural moments instead of looking posed. Beautiful pictures!

  69. Mia on June 24th, 2009 9:06 am

I love to work with professional protographers, and I love the subtle humour in your shots Jenn! I am another mommie that rarely gets to be in the good shots so that is a fantastic treat, and working with a pro inspires me for months with the photos I take of our now almost 1-year old daughter. She’s walking like a drunk and loves the camera :)

  70. Dreena Burton on June 25th, 2009 5:35 am

We have a new babe in the family, and would love to do a family portrait – maybe in the fall!

  71. Vickie on June 25th, 2009 11:32 am

As a stay-at-home Mom of three, finding the time, energy,(and money) to have a professional photo taken, just hasn’t been possible yet. Since we lost many of our photos in a tragic computer crash and burn last year, we lost many of our children’s first photos. Having Jenn take some fun, whimsical photos of our whole family would be a dream come true!

  72. Jenny on June 26th, 2009 7:30 am

to remember this moment with our energetic toddler for the years to come =)

  73. Sheila H on June 26th, 2009 10:22 pm

Jenn’s photography is amazing! I would love to have my family’s picture taken by her.

  74. Pam on June 29th, 2009 11:42 am

It would be so nice to see a young family like my daughter’s in a timely photo starting out a new life together. They are about to journey on their new adventure as one in a first time buying house and can’t afford the extra luxuries right now of photos. It would be a cherished memory. Thank you.

  75. Cara L on June 29th, 2009 2:29 pm

Jenn’s photographs are beautiful! When I see professional photos taken of friends and family I wish that we had the money and time to have great photos taken. We have a nice camera and take fine photos but the way a professional captures the moment just doesn’t compare. We don’t seem to have many family pictures as its either myself or my husband taking the photo most of the time.

  76. Amy M on June 29th, 2009 9:04 pm

We recently almost lost our child due to a bicycle accident that shattered his spleen. He is 7 years old and we are so proud of our brave boy. We would be honoured to have Jenn photograph us to help celebrate our son’s road to recovery. Her photography is amazing and captivating!

  77. Jenn on June 29th, 2009 10:09 pm

Love the pictures that Jenn takes! We are now a family of 4 and have no professional pictures to put up yet!

  78. Melody F on June 30th, 2009 1:44 pm

We’ve never been able to afford a professional shoot – it would be nice for us to all be in the picture!

  79. Alanna on June 30th, 2009 4:58 pm

I love portraits because they let me see how much my son has grown over time. They also get my husband into the pictures since he’s always the one behind the lens!

  80. Kyenta on June 30th, 2009 8:57 pm

As most people have mentioned,it would be wonderful to have a photo with all 3 of us in it. Our daughter was born in January and we have yet to have a photo taken with all of us in it. My husband started a new job in December and has been working steady overtime, and with the new baby, we have not had the presence of mind (too tired!) to make an effort to do that. It would be lovely to make that happen with a photographer who could take the time to capture our beautiful daughter and how happy we are to have her in our lives.

  81. Dawn R. on June 30th, 2009 9:36 pm

We have taken millions (well, thousands) of pictures of our darling baby girl, but we haven’t had any professional photos taken, at least not since I was pregnant. It would be great to have Jenn take some photos of the 3 of us, in order to capture this wonderful time of our lives!

  82. andrea on June 30th, 2009 9:36 pm

What a wonderful offer! I really wanted a professional photographer to photograph my belly when I was pregnant, but we couldn’t afford it as I was completing my thesis when I was pregnant. Now that she is 10 months old, and her one year birthday coming up, I would love to have a beautiful photo of her (with us) taken by a pro. Her name is Pilar, and she loves the camera, and loves to smile and laugh. Thanks!

Even number two got tons of pictures at first but its sure tapered off – and now would be hard pressed to fill an album with this year’s batch – life keeps getting in the way. The oldest is just about to start losing teeth which will be a whole new stage of photos – I’d love to capture the moment before we move on!

So many reasons, not least if which are my two beautiful children and handsome husband! This would be a real treat.

My daughter just turned 3 and we haven’t had a professional photo of her done this year, yet. After seeing the Jenn Di Sprito photos, I would love to have them photograph my daughter in such beautiful settings looking so natural (as opposed to be posed in a studio). The photos seem to capture the real beauty and spirit of the children.

Maybe it’s too late to enter this contest, but I’ll try anyway… We returned from our adoption trip to Vietnam 2 weeks ago and we are IN LOVE with our little 5-month-old girl. It would be so amazing to celebrate her “arrival” with your stunning photos…
