you hold the key

Is the world a scary place fraught with hidden dangers? We don’t like to think so, but we also know that, like the boy scouts, it helps to be prepared. And with the Identakey you’ll be prepared for everything from your child going missing to summer travels.

The Identakey looks like a pill-shaped USB drive, but it’s actually a small package packed with power. Just plug it into your computer and it walks you through entering all your family’s vital info from height and weight to photos and fingerprints and identifying features. You don’t need to be technical, but when you get started you will need to set aside a chunk of time to gather all your family’s details, but then you’ve got it all at your fingertips whenever you need it.

Marketed as a safety accessory, you can upload vital info to authorities in moments should you need to, but let’s hope that never happens, instead you use it in less stressful situations like retrieving contact or medical info. We use ours in place of those useful but easy-to-misplace child health passports that we received when our kids were born. We think it would be great for small daycares, as the key holds the details for up to eight people. Plus, if you had an aging parent you could use it for keeping on top of their medications and health info.

The Identakey beats more traditional methods of storing your info. It’s safer and more portable than keeping personal details in your wallet or briefcase and you can just hang it from your keychain. Your info is only stored on the Identakey, which requires username and password access, not on your computer or the Internet. If, however, you are prone to losing things you might want to buy two and easily duplicate your details.

It’s also super handy for summer travels, allowing you to bring your whole family’s health info along without needing to pack anything extra.

Gosh, pair one of these with a HealthPod you’d be eternally and enviably organized.
