it’s a stylin’ spring

After the dreary winter it’s hard not to be seduced by the bright colours and pretty styles that bloom in the spring. Here are our top picks for new styles to punch up your tots’ wardrobes this season:

We don’t how else to describe this baby lounge-wear from babymaci except as kimono rompers. Combining lovely prints with a kimono wrap top that snaps between the legs, these unique one pieces for babes from newborn on up to 14 months are perfect on their own in the warmer months or layered up when it’s cooler. And they’re sensible too, with a non-restrictive design and easy access to diapers.

Cielo has just launched their line of organic cotton and bamboo blended knit clothing for kids from one to four. A collection focused on dresses and tops with some shorts and leggings thrown in for good measure, we’re torn between the Mae Bubble Dress and the Saori Print Tunic for our kidlets, while we wish we could snag a pair of the Noa Bubble Shorts for ourselves.

For boys we like Kid Brother’s classic bowling shirt bearing the legend “Demolition Crew: You Make it, We Break It!” on the back. With shorts, tees and PJs for little guys from six months to four-years-old, our top spring picks are their funky board shorts and the three piece PJ sets that include shorts, pants and a tee and proclaims, “Sleep is for Sissies.”

As for accessories, Tsitah Threads’ Squamish-designed baby and toddler bandanas for boys and girls come in both bright prints as well as plain organic cotton. These bandanas combine a dose of West Coast hippy chic with surfer style. Best used on kids without much hair yet as the Velcro fastener tends to get caught in longer hair,  you can top off any outfit with a bit of bandana je ne said quoi.

What do all these lines have in common? Attention to detail, unique designs and they’re all Canadian.

Find babymaci at Beansprouts and Dandelion Kids , Cielo online and locally at Granville Island Organix, Kid Brother locally at Pebble , Jack & Lola, and Baby’s World and here’s  where to buy Tsitah Threads.
