pool party

When we launched our blog we drew upon your collective wisdom to get reviews of your favourite pools around town. We asked you to factor in water temperature, child and family friendliness and whether or not the water was chlorinated or ozone-treated. So without further ado, here are your favourite indoor kids’ pools in the Lower Mainland:
The Killarney Pool got the most mentions for its warm water temperature, gradual entry, water fountains, a bubble pit, lazy river and more. A popular feature of the women’s change rooms was a seat you can pop your baby in while you’re changing and mama’s like the water which is mainly ozone-treated. It did lose a few points for the very fact that it’s so popular and thus very busy, and the fact that lots of individuals take advantage of the privacy and fill up family change rooms.
Next up in terms of popularity was the West Vancouver Aquatic Centre which got high points for their shallow ozone-treated children’s pool with a large slide, lazy river and bubbles, as well as the family change rooms (which also tend to get busy). The slide at the West Van pool is a high light but adults can’t ride the slide with their tots, so kids who aren’t willing to go it alone won’t be able to take advantage of it. North Van’s Karen Magnussen wave pool also received an honourable mention.
The Ladner Leisure Centre Pool in Delta was also popular. High points include its warm water, “beach” style entry which is great for splashy babies, slide and gentle sprinklers, family change rooms (again, they tend to be busy) and a changing table and portable crib in the ladies change room. And if you’re not up for swimming their viewing area includes a colouring table.
Burnaby’s Eileen Dailly Pool gets points for its gradual entry, ozone-treated water, fountains and whitewater channel, family change rooms and easy parking.
Tune in tomorrow for reviews of your favourite your outdoor pools.
