Once your tot’s adept at using the potty, picking the perfect undies to celebrate that achievement is very important. Which is why we were very excited to discover Bambamboono’s new ‘months of the year‘ bamboo undies.

If you think about it, bamboo is the perfect fabric for underwear. It’s not just silky soft, but antibacterial, antifungal and hypoallergenic. It’s also great at moisture absorption and ventilation, with natural wicking capabilities. All that combines into a fabric that stays fresh and smell-free longer and is ultra-absorbent. Oh, and the environmental impact of bamboo is very low.

Inspired by the ever-popular ‘days of the week’ undies, local mum Shannon Choi of Bambamboono has just introduced ‘months of the year’ undies made from bamboo with the months silkscreened on in water-based, chemical-free ink. Each pair of undies also sports her trademark Panda, Zen, engaged in seasonal activities like admiring the cherry blossoms, swimming and sledding.

Available for kids from two to six and coming in two different colours – light blue and lavender – we think these are ingenious. Bamboo’s fabulous properties mean you only need to change your tot’s knickers once a month. Talk about a time saver for you and an environment-saver too, as you won’t be doing as much laundry. And because bamboo is 100% biodegradable when the month is over you can either save April for a sibling or simply compost them. Yup, ingenious all right.

But as great as bamboo is, accidents do happen, so each set of undies comes with an English and French version, just in case you need to make a mid-month switch.

Want to scoop them up? They’re sold at all the same fine retailers as Sleepie Babie and Veggie Loving Kid.

LOL! Oh that’s too funny Annemarie! You had me going until “you only need to change your tot’s knickers once a month”! I can only imagine my mother’s face if I told her I came out with a product like that…

Yo, mama! Too funny!! Sounded like an intriguing idea — my kid needs some new underwear right now — so was even contemplating picking some up. (Like the ‘low odour’ idea). But changing knickers once a month…hmmm!

Good on ya! A great smile to start my day! (( :
