green clean team

Have you ever watched a child sneeze all over a toy or play with it with hands that were just in their nose and then your tot toddles over right afterwards and picks it up? While we can’t – and probably shouldn’t – run around spraying everything with disinfectant spray before they touch it, there is no doubt that after a particularly messy playdate the toys in your home could use a good once over. Which is why we were eager to put Dapple’s Toy and Surface Cleaner through its paces.
In a two tot family that can mean some heavy duty lifting. We tried it on counters, stoves, baby toys and some outdoor toys including a water table that has been out in the Vancouver rain. Not only did a little go a long way but it smelled nice – light without being overly perfumed – and it also got everything clean (except for a red food colouring stained counter top that we’re pretty sure is permanent). With a child in preschool and a baby in the house it was nice to keep at least some of the germs at bay.
Founded by two moms, Tamar Rosenthal and Dana Rubinstein, Dapple is a line of safe, green cleaning products for households with children. Their products are both baby-safe and baby-specific, using ingredients that have been tested and proven to tackle the unique messes that babies leave behind, from dried milk on bottles to sticky fingerprints on toys. Using natural-based, biodegradable ingredients, and no synthetic dyes or fragrances, SLES, parabens and phthalates, their line includes a dish liquid, dishwasher detergent and a non-antibacterial toy cleaner in spray and wipes.
We had a couple of questions about the products and our questions were answered promptly. After all says co-founder Tamar Rosenthal, “Safety is key to our company. First and foremost we are moms.” So if becoming part of the green clean team is your thing, you can find Dapple locally at Pinky Blue Children’s Boutique in Richmond.
