I think this is a fabulous idea and plan to get a subscription! I enjoyed watching the news clip that shared ideas for a Greener Birthday party. The paper loot bags with nature activities is such a better gift than the dollar store throw-aways!
I love that the crafts each month are multi-age focused, as I have two girls that will want to be crafty.

  2. Jodi Brown on April 1st, 2009 7:58 am

The birthday party tree favors- the spruce seedling- is a fantastic idea!
What a fantastic way to teach kids about caring for the environment and having them personally, positively, make an impact.

  3. Suzanne on April 1st, 2009 8:05 am

I just love the Bamboo Hooded Enclosed Wrap for Baby! All warm and snug after bath with no effort :) I tried to join the facebook group, but the link is not working…
I also think it is the best idea ever to dedicate trees to your child’s teachers to thank them for helping your child grow! I bookmarked their page and will be heading back to read some more. I do know though, I will defenatly not be giving my child’s teacher any stuffed flowers or candy when he starts school in Sept!
    We love trees :)

  4. Suzanne on April 1st, 2009 8:09 am

Ohhhhh!! Not fair, to early in the morning….

  5. Dasia Liu on April 1st, 2009 8:11 am

I have been anxiously waiting for my niece’s fourth birthday so I could sign her up for Craft Caravan’s monthly crafts. I honestly can’t think of a better birthday gift than that!

  11. Leah on April 1st, 2009 10:35 am

I haven’t seen a hooded bath towel that attaches to mom/dad before. What a fantastic idea!!
    Thanks Bamboobino!

  12. Leah on April 1st, 2009 10:42 am

My sister’s birthday falls on Earth Day. We decided that this year we will take the kids to plant trees as her birthday gift. Now that I’ve seen the Kenyan tree planting certificate at Love Trees I know that we need to incorporate it into our birthday festivities.
I am adopting a boy from Africa and I think that the Kenyan tree planting program is a wonderful way to educate my niece and nephew about where their cousin is coming from.

  13. Bree on April 1st, 2009 2:06 pm

I think the Toddler Hooded Kimono Set from Bamboobino is really sweet.

  14. Bree on April 1st, 2009 2:08 pm

The Kids Craft Club at Craft Caravan is a great idea. A fun rainy day project.

  15. Bree on April 1st, 2009 2:10 pm

A Tree For Every Child from Love Trees is a nice idea. I like that it’s a more “local” way to offset carbon emissions and great way to get your hands dirty.

  19. Leah Dixon on April 2nd, 2009 6:06 am

Love the hooded kimonos at Bamboobino. Reasonable prices too.

  20. Leah Dixon on April 2nd, 2009 6:08 am

Craft Caravan is a great site. I am an extremely crafty person so have never bought a subscription, but will likely order one as a birthday gift for my friend’s daughter this year. The newsletter is great too!

  21. Leah Dixon on April 2nd, 2009 6:10 am

I love the ideas on lovetrees, but I find the prices quite high considering the small percentage that they donate. I will steal their idea though and give seedlings as a birthday favour at my son birthday party this year though. We can make it one of the activities at the party.

  22. Jen on April 2nd, 2009 9:07 am

I just love the whole idea of Craft Caravan, putting everything together for you. Especially like the invitation and thank-you card kits, what a great way to get kids involved in the process around planning a party and considering the guests.

  47. Kathleen Chung on April 5th, 2009 10:09 am

Love Trees is a great site – very informative and inspiring! I really like the My First Tree birthday party favours – great idea…so much better than the standard ‘knick knacks’ that people give away at parties that end up leaving a big carbon footprint.

I love the craft caravan idea of the monthly craft subscription and I’ll sign up for this when my daughter is older. She would love receiving items in the mail and she loves making crafts with me.

I have a suggestion for them though. I would love to see a gallery of past month’s projects to get a better feel of what I would receive each month. And, maybe they should consider selling extra kits from past months. I saw comments from a mom about the windchime kit and I would love to order that.

  66. Sandra on April 7th, 2009 7:37 pm

  79. Elizabeth on April 8th, 2009 4:39 pm

Wow, I would have Adored this as a child. My little one is still under a year so it won’t be on my agenda yet, but I will keep this site in My Faves to use in the future because it is such an amazing idea!

  80. Elizabeth on April 8th, 2009 4:43 pm

As I perused the lovetrees site, I happened across the item “1st birthday party favors.” As I am planning my daughter’s first birthday party for next month I am intrigued by this idea. What a great way to start children off thinking about the environment and caring about our planet. The book The Wish Trees seemed like quite an educational object as well. Books are huge in my family and I read to my daughter every single day, so I’m always on the lookout for good book ideas.

  90. margherita on April 14th, 2009 8:28 am

I thought that the bathing line at Bamboobino was adorable so comfy and snug, it’s such a stresful time for little baby to come out of the water after their bath and getting dressed, to be wraped in the lovely Bamboobino collection would make it all more pleasent

  91. Julie on April 14th, 2009 8:31 am

  93. margherita on April 14th, 2009 8:34 am

What a wonderful business lovetrees is with so many resources and projects to both protect our planet and reconnecting children and young families to trees, it really is wonderful, what i like about it is that its project teaches children that they can take steps, to make positive changes

  94. Harjoat on April 14th, 2009 8:36 am

I love the idea of wish trees and of first tree party favours, much better options than what most people would get, our kids already have so many toys! Great lovetrees

  100. saroj on April 14th, 2009 8:49 am

Lovetrees is great, it connects children to nature, which is a difficult thing to do for moms that live in the city and a great loss for kids that love nature and learning first hand about it, really loved all their projects, also positive teaching opportunities through fun

  101. harjoat on April 14th, 2009 8:50 am

From craftcaravan I loved the about me scrapbook, they provide all the materials so it actually will get done, and be personal and unique really great

  102. Julie on April 14th, 2009 8:51 am

What a nice idea to give trees to children – and even adults, and help them become more aware of the importance of protecting our planet. I will keep in mind the idea of giving seedlings to birthday partys and other anniversaries.

  103. Julie on April 14th, 2009 8:56 am

My daughter is too young at the moment, but next year I will definitely join the Kids Craft Club. I love crafts, and I love receiving mail! I’m sure my daughter will too.

I LOVE the Bamboobino socks with the little pandas on them! How cute! I am going to buy some bamboo fitted sheets for my sons crib! I wish they made Queen size ones for me. I will also be ordering some washcloths. They are a great price!

  109. Diane on April 14th, 2009 12:34 pm

All very interesting stuff. Using bamboo as a more sustainable material than cotton… I never knew. I will remember the Crafts Caravan idea for when my son gets old enough to do crafts. And the Love Trees… I agree that kids have lost touch with nature… I have consciously tried to get my young son outside as much as possible to muck about in the grass, in the soil… to look at the birds and look way up at the trees. Nice to connect the two in a way that has such a positive impact.

  110. Betty Boudreau on April 14th, 2009 3:47 pm

Bamboobino – what a delightful site. I am a Nana who loves to spend on my grandchildren, I have 2 granddaughters and one surprise on the way. I like to purchase quality items and plan to get the kimonos, Inda Bears and I think my daughter will enjoy the nursing pads, this will be her first child. I like to use products that are sustainable and economical – this site is bookmarked for future gifts!

  111. Betty Boudreau on April 14th, 2009 3:49 pm

Craft Caravan – what a terrific idea! I love to do crafts with my 2 year old granddaughter and 8 year old step – granbaby but never seem to have everything I need in one place. This will serve 2 purposes, both girls will get ‘mail’ and they will have everything needed for the next Crafty Nana day!

  112. Betty Boudreau on April 14th, 2009 3:52 pm

Love Trees – again a delightful site that I plan to visit often. Great party ideas, I think everyone at the baby shower will get a baby tree, lol. I know my granddaughters will love to plant and care for their trees and we can plant them around their new playhouse Daddy is building. The book looks absolutly lovely and I will be ordering a lot of them. I prefer to give books as gifts, educational, fun and a lasting treasure

  113. Kathy Wilkins on April 15th, 2009 8:21 pm

I love the soft and smart products at Bamboobino. My daughter knows it is bath time as soon as she slips into her bath wrap and even after so many washes the bamboo wash cloths are still so soft and don’t look ratty at all. Craft Caravan is so cute. I think it is great to subscribe and look forward to a new craft in the mail each month!

  114. Kristy on April 16th, 2009 8:07 am

Would love some bamboo fitted sheets for my little girl.

I have to admit to not being a very crafty momma. I think the monthly deliveries from Craft Caravan would be a good way to inspire and also make sure we make time for crafts at our house. I think I could have fun with it (my daughter definitely would)I just need a little help =).

  116. tracey on April 16th, 2009 8:37 am

i LOVE the bamboobino socks! they fit perfectly – they actually stay in place without cutting off circulation to baby’s feet. i think i must have at least 8 pairs ranging from 0-6 through 12-18 months. just bought the fitted sheet at the yaletown fair, and i really like it…i’m not sure if it’s coincidence or not, but my son’s started to sleep on his tummy with his cheek snuggled into the fabric :-)

  117. Shara on April 16th, 2009 1:30 pm

I really want the Bamboo After-Bath Hat for Baby. I already use the washcloths and LOVE them!!

  118. Shara on April 16th, 2009 1:32 pm

I would try out the Thank you Card Kit, since I think thanking people for gifts is very important and I want to teach my kids that right off the bat.

  119. Shara on April 16th, 2009 1:33 pm

I would buy the book The Wish Trees, since I just started my book collection for my new baby and it needs to keep growing.

  120. Sharon from Bamboobino on April 16th, 2009 8:05 pm

Hi everyone! Just checking in mid-month on the contest. Thank you all for the wonderful comments – so great to hear from so many thoughtful mums out there! Thank you all also for jumping in so enthusiastically by joining our Facebook groups and newsletter.
I don’t know if this is a coincidence with Earth Day around the corner, but my 3-year old daughter has started hugging the neighbourhood cherry blossom trees! I’m convinced it’s because she’s so enchanted when reading The Wish Trees…
Anyway, keep the entries coming, and good luck! Sharon

  121. Andrea from Love Trees on April 17th, 2009 8:20 am

I loved your grass heads in your April 17th newsletter. My four year old and I made our own a few weeks ago, which have grown like crazy and we can’t wait to give them their hair cuts this week. What a fun spring project for both of us. I wish I could upload the photo.

The bamboo kimono towels would be a puls as well as it would fit in great with the baby’s half-Japanese heritage!
