St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and it’s the perfect time to turn walks with your kids into hunts for rainbows and four leaf clovers. You can also use the luck of the Irish to keep your kids entertained indoors with these St. Patrick’s Day inspired crafts from Keri of Craft Caravan:

Spiral Rainbow Mobile: Cut a piece of paper into a large circle. Glue pieces of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple tissue onto both sides of the circle until it is completely covered in colour. Let dry. Starting in centre of the circle, draw a spiral that moves to outer edge, keeping consistent spacing of about 2cm as you draw. Cut spiral starting at outer edge. Pull mobile up from the centre, so that it cascades downward, and hang. Tip: if you don’t have coloured tissue, simply colour the paper using crayons.

Pot of Gold Thumb Print Craft: Cut a black pot of gold out of construction paper and glue it onto a second piece of paper, leaving lots of room at the top. Dip thumb into yellow paint, and add gold thumb ‘coins’ to your pot of gold, making a heaping pile of gold at the top. Tip: your kids can practice their cutting skills by cutting out the pots themselves.

Shamrock Fan: Draw a large three or four-leafed clover onto cardboard (from cereal box or similar thickness). Include a stem (this will be the handle). Cut the shamrock out, and cover both sides with green; use green crayons, construction paper, tissue, or clippings from magazines. Let dry. You can reinforce the handle by securing a thick craft stick with packing tape and keep yourself cool with your cool new fan!
