It hasn’t been that long since our babies were, well, babies, but in that scant time it seems that diaper bags, strollers, toys, high chairs, clothes and baby gear in general just keeps getting cooler and cooler. And mum-of-three Leanne Kripp has brought all that cool stuff together at jack & lola, North Van’s first one-stop baby shop that just opened off of Lonsdale on 1st Avenue.
A fabulous 6,000 sq foot space that has long housed night clubs – does the name Goofys or Holidays take you back anyone? – jack & lola is well organized with lots of aisle space for strollers (even doubles!), dedicated free parking next to the store, and easy-to-find areas devoted to eating, playing, wearing and more. We especially appreciated Lola’s Lounge with comfy chairs for nursing and great toys to keep kids amused while dads will be thrilled with Jack’s lounge, a little space all of their own with leather chairs, a big screen TV showing sports and coffee.
So whether you’re kitting out your nursery, looking for a baby gift or clothing your preschooler you’ll find baby necessities and frivolities from Maclaren, Mountain Buggy, Dwell, Oeuf, Peekaboo Beans, Fleurville, HaPe, Safe Sippy and heaps more brands you know or will want to discover. With everything from gDiapers to bottles to shoes you really can stock up on almost everything your baby needs, though Kripp is still sourcing a few items to fill in gaps in inventory she’s discovered since her launch.
Their grand opening is coming up this Saturday and Sunday with prizes, specials and giveaways, magic, arts & crafts all weekend long and Bobs & Lolo will be playing three sets on Sunday, October 5th at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm. Tickets are free and you can pick them up in the store, but space is limited to you’ll want to scoop ‘em up soon.
Oh, and you can create your own wish list whether you’re expecting a new baby or just a new diaper bag…
