When you’re pregnant for the first time you may not realize that lovely as the flowers and fripperies that arrive soon after your babe does are, what you’re really, really going to want is food. Because even if you’re hyper organized and you’ve padded your pantry and filled your freezer pre-baby – which we’d highly recommend by the way  – nothing beats fresh meals delivered by friends and family.

And if you’re experienced at this parenting thing and expecting anew then food is an even more welcome gift as you’ll be very busy keeping everyone happy on very little sleep with even less time to cook.

MealBaby.com makes planning a meal registry simple. Rather than emails flying back and forth resulting in mixed messages and six lasagnas being delivered on the same day, you – or ideally a friend on your behalf – can use MealBaby to create a delivery calendar, share your food likes and dislikes, pass around your contact info, and let people know if you’re up for visits or if you’d prefer they stop, drop and run. Oh, and they do all this for free.

Not only does MealBaby take care of the basic organizing, but they also send out reminder emails to your friends letting them know that they promised you dinner, and let you know by email who’s on call and what they’re bringing. And because everyone involved can see what each other is planning to cook it not only means you’ll get a more varied menu but also that some good natured rivalry may well ensue as everyone tries to do outdo each other with their culinary creations. And from your point of view that can only be a good thing…
