looking back @ safety
Filed Under Going Green, Stuff | December 31, 2008
Amongst all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s also a time of appreciation and reflection. For us it’s been a big year as it was our first full year yoyomama-ing and we won the SavvyMom Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award for BC and Territories which has meant lots of growth and juggling. So who do we appreciate? You, our smart, funny, inquiring and inspiring readers. And what are we reflecting upon? Your favourite stories from the past year, so from now until the New Year we’ll be counting down your top five faves from 2008.
So for 2008 safety wins over stuff. Your favourite article of 2008 was last January’s article on safer sipping options for babies and kids. The year got even safer what with Canada’s BPA-ban on baby bottles and lots more safe sipping, safe eating and safe storing products coming onto the market. We even found some safer thermos mugs for mamas (and papas too).
We’re always on the lookout for safer products for our kids, ourselves and you, and we have some good leads on new products for 2009 that we’ll be sure to tell you about.
yoyomama will be back on January 5th, 2009 with your daily hits of gear, tips & tricks, events and more, ’til then we wish you safe and happy holidays.

Let us know what you think or share your great finds with us so we can share them with other Vancouver mothers!

Thank you so much for posting about Savvymom.ca. We really appreciate it!
Again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Christina
hey – safety-wise, why not do a blurb on the safety station at BC Children’s Hospital and how the small margin the store makes on the safety products it sells goes right back into safety programs for kids in BC. (it just kills me to see – wait – those are the wrong words to use in the safety post – wipeitout – it upsets me to see people buying gates and drawer locks at Toys’r'Us and the profit going to no good use)
and maybe something about car seats (where you can go to have them checked every so often, or the most often committed mistakes when installing them, or … something other than ‘how to install’)
and what about places to take child first aid? or a chat with a doctor at the hospital with a top 10 list of why kids come in to emergency ….
btw – i really like the evolved parenting column. thank you.
