Rain, rain, go away

Yeah, that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Fall is now firmly entrenched and it’s high time to make the switch from sunscreen to rain gear. While we’ve found some great coats for kids and mamas in our travels, hats are another matter. Hoods on coats not only leave little foreheads damp, but they don’t always stay on and they can also obscure peripheral vision and affect hearing. And umbrellas – as charming as the kiddy ones are – can be wielded not-so-safely in little hands. Which is why we think these locally-made kids’ rain hats from Raindrops are a great addition to our rain gear oeuvre.
Similar to our favourite sun hats, the broad, and not-too-floppy, brim on these chapeaus keeps rain off kids’ faces and the Velcro chin strap means the hats will stay on little heads. They come in fun prints and patterns you won’t see everywhere. The Maple Ridge-based designer picks cotton prints she likes and then sends them of to be coated with waterproof polyurethane in Quebec. The hats are also lined with a bamboo and organic cotton blend, which means they’re not cold and clammy when you put them on and your child won’t get a sweaty head.
Currently they’re only available online at Lavish & Lime and we know the one we used for the picture is cute and girly, but mothers of boys need not despair, they carry a great one in “boy blue” as well.
We just wish we could be this stylin’ in the rain.

We’ve got a few other great rain gear finds up our sleeves as well, and if you’re stocking up for fall you’ll want to check out some of the rainy weather wear we’ve previously covered:

These hats are so cute, but I can’t seem to find any website for the maker, Raindrops. Anyone know how to get in contact with the designer?
Hi Danielle – I believe they may have gone out of business sadly as their hats are/were great!
