Let it rain

We’ve changed our tune a bit since last week when we chanted rain, rain, go away. Instead we’re fully kitted out for the wet weather and ready to greet it head on. Well, our kids are anyhow. And we’ve got something that’ll take you back in time – the K-Way. Remember the waterproof jackets from the ’70s that folded up into a little pouch you could wear like a fanny pack – though they call it a hip bag – around your waist? Well they’ve been resurrected – and in kids sizes.

Think about it, what could be better for our Vancouver weather? A waterproof, windbreaker that you can toss into your bag, or around your child’s waist, to have at the ready to face the vagaries of the fall weather. A sudden shower? Just throw your kids’ K-Way on over their fleecy. A blustery day? Top your child’s outfit with a K-Way and the wind will have to whistle around them instead of through them. Plus the retro striped elastic belt with the waist clip will have you thinking fondly of the painter pants, be-decaled baseball tees and the brown and orange colour scheme of your childhood wardrobe.

While the K-Way may not stand up to a full-on deluge, they will help you fight everyday grey, showery days, especially if you pick one up in a bright colour like magenta or retro red.

Find them online at stylekid.ca in sizes 12 mos to 10 years. At $34.95 why not order a size bigger than you need so they last two seasons? After all, the layered look never goes out of style.
