The seasons are changing and we’re packing away shorts, tees and sundresses and pulling out cosy pieces for fall, so we asked Stefanie and Maria, the stylin’ duo behind dandelion KIDS, to give us the scoop on the top trends and must-haves for the under five set this fall.

Toddler looks for Fall ’08 are comfortable and practical with a little bit of rock ‘n roll thrown in. And don’t forget organic and of superb quality.  The shelves are overflowing with a deliciously strong season of clothes for little ones from slouchy over-sized sweaters to the coolest skinny pants in waxed cotton for extra rainy day comfort.

Our favorite for girls big and small has to be Tea Collection’s moss green sweater dress with leg-of-mutton sleeves We’d suggest accessorizing it with light and chocolate brown striped organic cotton tights from Katvig, with copper sparkle Mary Jane shoes and a jaunty hair bow to complete the look.

Girls who like to play with colour – and do you know a three-year-old who doesn’t?  – can switch things up with a purple and white striped and belted sweater dress paired with hot pink tights and neon pink Converse hi-tops. Cool and comfy indeed!

Boys are stepping out in durable engineer striped denim by Appaman with red super-soft cotton car tees and retro arcade print Converse hi-tops. They’re also rocking skinny blue jeans from Tea Collection with sleek Ben Sherman button-front shirts and black wool toppers. Dad will wish these duds came in his size too.

For an outfit with just the right amount of attitude, dark brown waxed cotton jeans together with a slim fitting brown on brown striped organic cotton tee from Katvig and Vans slip-ons with skulls hits the perfect note.

Simplicity and ease of getting dressed are key to getting out the door in the morning. Our pick – for boys or girls – is a pair of gorgeous velour pants in dark turquoise and a fleece jacket in matching tones. Paired with Vans Big School black and white checkerboard shoes and a charming fleece aviator cap, this is an absolute show-stopper.

Not least, brightly coloured and Canadian-made Kamik rainboots are a must here in Vancouver. Puddle jumping can be done with glee and dry feet!

Enjoy the falling leaves and raindrops!

Please note: All the brands mentioned here are available locally – you’ll find store locators on their websites.
