Stamp it out

When preschoolers start thinking about letters, the first word they’re likely to want to learn to print is their name. One way you can aid that process is by dot printing your child’s name for them to trace. But no matter how devoted you are to your child’s edification, repeated dot printing quickly becomes tedious and time-consuming, especially if you’ve got a little Vivienne rather than a Suri.

So what are your options if you want to help your child learn to print their name, but rather it wasn’t all on you? You can always dot print a page with their name and make lots and lots of copies, but we’ve got something a little more fun in mind. The Little Stamp Company’s Signature Stamps allow your child to stamp and practice their very own name on paper, artwork, crafts, paintings, cards and anything else their imaginations can dream up while you sit back and admire their growing prowess.

The creation of Ontario mama and teacher Lee-Ann O’Neill, who got tired of dot printing her daughter Mackenzie’s name, The Little Stamp Company’s stamps are customized, easy-to-hold, and self-inking with child-safe, eco-friendly ink. And unlike those mini license plates from the ’80s that only ran to “regular” names, there’s no chance here that your little Harlow or Apple will be out in the cold. Each stamp is made-to-order with your child’s name, your choice of three ink colours, and in all CAPs or regular (ie. Knox) style.

We also like the tips on the site for teaching your child to print their name with the stamp and the education section with literacy tips and activities.

Just think, you can use the stamp to get them to sign their own thank you cards…
