Strathcona Community Centre’s Fabulous Family Friday
July 25th, 11 am – 2 pm, Strathcona Park, at Campbell Avenue & Prior Street
When they say fabulous they aren’t kidding. The police are on hand with an obstacle course and challenging the kids to soccer, there are old-fashioned playground games imagination arts, fire trucks, games and goody bags for the kids. The Summer Dream Literary Arts Festival

Celebrate Mount Pleasant Pool

Mimic Me Live at Havana Theatre
July 29th – August 2nd, 4 pm daily, Havana Theatre, 1212 Commercial Drive
Mimic Me is putting on a live family show for kids from one to six including live entertainment and Mimic the monkey, plus you’ll learn some useful sign language while you’re at it. And a portion of the proceeds (tix $5.50 at the door) is going toward China’s Earthquake Survivor Orphans: mimicbaby.com

Pemberton Festival
July 25th – 27th, Pemberton, BC
We have to admit the KidsZone is not what’s making us wish we were going to the Pemberton Festival. But it does sound pretty awesome with the intriguingly named fairy wand walking stick making workshop, local members of the Lil’wat First Nation teaching about local history and helping kids make cedar bracelets and miniature drums, circus classes, and live music (but of course!) from Bobs & Lolo, Rick Scott and Norman Foote. You’ll have to toss a coin with your partner to see who gets to go see Cold Play and who gets to mind the kiddies: www.pembertonfestival.com

Aldergrove Fair Days
July 25th – 27th, various time, Aldergrove Athletic Park, East of 272nd on 27th Ave
It’s the fair’s 96th Anniversary and they’re bringing history to life with an “Old Time Aldergrove” theme. There’s a parade, exhibits, Kidzone entertainment and musical fireworks on Saturday night: www.aldergrovefairdays.com

North Van Community Concerts
Friday Evenings, 7 pm – 9 pm, Panorama Park, Edgemont Village & Lynn Valley Library Town Centre Plaza

17th Annual International Bog Days
