Fresh as a (Oopsy) Daisy!

Oopsy Daisy!

So it’s summer (sort of), you’re out, you’re about, you’re snacking and picnicking on the go but you still want to keep your kids’ hand clean(ish). There are hand sanitizers – around which (false) urban myths have swirled lately – but we much prefer No Bath Bubble Bath – Rinse Free Body Wash from Oopsy Daisy!, which keeps the whole family clean on the go.

It’s a mild, rinse-free body wash made of ingredients we actually recognize including decyl polyglucoside (okay, we didn’t recognize that, but we liked that the label demystified it by clarifyin that meant extracts from corn, coconut and palm), vegetable glycerin, and grapefruit seed extract. As great as the ingredient list is, we also like what’s not in it – there are no parabens, SLS, DEA, formaldehyde, propylene glycol, artificial colours, synthetic fragrances (often a hidden source of phthalates), dyes, petrochemicals or harsh preservatives. Oh, and here’s an interesting tidbit we found on their site, the reason most tear-free shampoos don’t irritate your eyes is because they contain numbing agents or anesthetizers. Which is why the Oopsy Daisy! products aren’t tear-free.

But the coolest thing about it is how it works. You just squirt some foamy No Bath Bubble Bath onto your hands, rub your hands as if you’re washing them and then wipe it off with a towel, a cloth, or a wipe – whatever you’ve got handy. And we know you almost always have wipes handy, right?

Lightly scented with lemon verbena and lavender, we’ve been carrying this one in our diaper bag for all our excursions and it’s great. We only wish they had a smaller, more portable size.

Oopsy Daisy! Also makes a High Chair Hair Care – Rinse Free Shampoo which we wish we’d had when our youngest made learning to eat a full-body experience, check out their “instructional” video on how it works.

Oopsy Daisy! products are available locally online through Organically Hatched – also a great source of Badger Sunscreen – and in person at Beautymark.

Here’s my struggle … this product sounds wonderful and I want to do “the best” that I can for my sweet little boy, but $20 for shampoo makes this product unattainable! Obviously we are not the target market, in that price range. For now we use a natural soap that washes both his body and his hair without any problem.

I agree, this is not for everyday use, but for an add on product for when you’re out and want to wash their hands before you eat etc and there’s no water available I think it may be worthwhile purchase as it’s a big bottle that’ll last you for ages. For everyday home use for hand washing and hair washing we don’t use this, we have other products we like, but we think this is great for on the go (road trips, picnics, playgyms snacks etc).
