It’s an odd weekend. It’s sort of long. It’s sort of not. None-the-less we’ve included Canada Day events here too! Everything’s chronological, so you’ll find them at the end of each of the listings.

Belly & Beyond Summer Blowout Sale

Greek Summerfest 2008

Yaletown Summer Block Party
June 28th, 11 am – 5 pm, 1000 & 1100 Block Hamilton Street

Canada Day at Granville Island

You’ll find live jazz, roving performers, face painting, tattoos, a parade and heaps more including the South Asian MELA Festival from noon to 8 pm: www.granvilleisland.com/en/event

Canada Day at Canada Place
July 1st, 10 am – 7 pm, Canada Place, 999 Canada Place
This is one of the classic places to spend Canada Day. With live music (this year you can catch 54-40), HSBC’s Run for Canada, an air show, acrobatics, an evening fireworks show and much, much, more all celebrating our country: www.canadaday.canadaplace.ca/canadaday/

Canada Day at Sunset Community Centre
July 1st, Noon – 4 pm, 6810 Main Street
This is a super family-friendly event with a kids’ play area and activities, games, entertainment and cake: www.mysunset.net/events.htm

Canada Day on Robson Street
July 1st, Noon – 6 pm, Robson Street (between Burrard and Jervis)
Featuring the Vancouver 2010 mascots, you’ll also find live entertainment, street performers, cupcakes and Canadian flags: www.robsonstreet.ca

Golden Spike Days Festival

Barbeque in the Park – A Brain Injury Awareness Event

Canada Day at Fort Langley

Steveston Salmon Festival
July 1st, 7 am – 5 pm, Steveston
There’s so much going on at this much-loved annual event, that you’ll need to check their site for full details. Suffice it to say there’ll be a great salmon barbeque, a parade, live music and heaps more: www.stevestonsalmonfest.ca

Surrey Canada Day
July 1st, 10 am – 11 pm, Cloverdale Millennium Amphitheatre
This is Western Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration and you’ll find kids’ performers including Bobs & Lolo and Sam’s Rot’n Pot’n Pan Band, rides and bouncy castles, and lots and lots of other fun stuff: www.canadaday.surrey.ca

North Vancouver Canada Day Celebrations
July 1st, 12:30 – 4:30 pm, Waterfront Park, North Van
Celebrate Canada’s diversity with community groups, local performers, a free valet service for bike parking, and the Solartaxi, a solar powered vehicle that’s stopping by North Van on its world tour: northvancanadaday.com

Tsawwassen Shrine Club’s 38th Annual Salmon Barbeque * Please note, this information is incorrect, sorry for any inconvenience.
July 1st, 5:30 pm onwards, Ladner Harbour Park
Starting at 5:30 this event keeps going until the salmon, coleslaw, fries, buns, butter, coffee and juice are gone. Call: 604.943.3548 for details.
