When is a dress not a dress? When it’s a Dolly n’ Boo creation. Just one of these beautifully hand-crafted, local creations is both two dresses and a tunic top. How can one dress be all that? Well, it’s completely reversible, which means you get two dresses for the price of one and when you’re out and about should it get dirty you just flip it inside out and hey presto, a clean dress. Because of the long shoulder ties one dress fits a tot from size two to nine, and when it’s too short to be a dress, well then it works as beautiful tunic top. Talk about multi-tasking.
The creation of creative mama-of-two and doula, Renice Edmison, Dolly n’ Boo wares are named after her daughter’s two loves, her stuffed doll and bear. With an eye for combining patterns and fabrics, Edmison mixes and matches totally different prints on each side of her dresses to come up with beautiful combinations, which means each dress is unique. And each dress has its own moniker too, names like bumbleberry, wispy, feisty, pickle, sudsy and tin tin that are almost as cute as the dresses themselves.
And nothing in Edmison’s workshop goes to waste. She uses left-over fabrics to make baby bags, the perfect accessory to any young lady’s outfit and ribbon-tie headbands. And if you’ve got boys never fear. You’ll also find fun one-of-a-kind tees and onesies.
The one snag? Dolly n’ Boo isn’t sold anywhere locally, nor online, at least not yet. You have to touch base with Edmison through her blog to place an order or for more info, but because she’s local (in Coquitlam) it all goes pretty smoothly.
