Dirty Little Secrets

No, we’re not talking weight loss or younger looking skin, we’re talking about your mummy secrets. Maybe they’re rather innocuous. Maybe they’re a little darker. And maybe they’re the little things that help get you through your day. Whatever secrets you have, you’re bound to find something you identify with when you dip into Dirty Little Secrets from Otherwise Perfect Moms.

It’s a small book, full of big secrets. You’ll find ones that are laugh-out-loud (“I let my two toddlers eat Milk Bones right out of the box. I figure if they’re not barking, they’re fine.”), some that are darker (My husband would be surprised if he knew that I thought about divorce more times than I can count.”), and some that will have you calling your friends to share (After our family vacation, I secretly checked myself into the spa for the day.”). And we’re betting that pretty much all of them will spark some sort of recognition in you.

Dirty Little Secrets came about when mums Trisha Ashworth and Amy Nobile were researching their first book (which we’d also recommend) – I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids. They found their interview subjects would start off talking about how rosy everything was, but then as their interviews progressed thought-provoking, guilty confessions that may have never before seen the light of day would emerge.

We’d recommend keeping Dirty Little Secrets handy so you can flip through it when you’ve had a less-than-stellar parenting day or when you just need a pick me up. And we think this would make a great Father’s Day gift – for you!

Hi there! So glad you like the book(s)! Great website, too. Stay tuned– our 3rd book about marriage (post kids) is coming out in April ’09.

    Cheers,

My little secret … we sometimes skip breakfast if I want a few extra minutes to doze in the morning, hoping the play date we’re going to will have some.
