We have a lot of happenings this weekend as well as some upcoming events we wanted to let you know about sooner rather than later. So our apologies for going a little long!
M+K Sample Sale

Picnic in the Park
May 23rd, 10 am – 1:30 pm (for kids under six), Norquay Park, 5050 Wales Street
May is Child Care Month so Vancouver Supported Child Development is throwing a picnic in the park complete with activities including a clown, musicians, an obstacle course, snacks and a free lunch. All families and child care providers are invited. Please bring a non-perishable food item or piece of clothing for donation to the community. From 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm there’ll be activities for kids over six.
Reps West One Day Sale
May 23rd, 12 pm – 7 pm, 1272 Vernon Drive
Stock up and save on shoes from New Balance, Dunham, PF Flyers and Aravon for the whole family. Shoe sizes are limited to 9.5 for men, 7 for women, 12 for Preschoolers and 3 for infants. There’ll be clothes in size large for men, and medium for women as well. Cash only! Thanks to I Love Sample Sales for the heads up.
Collingwood Neighborhood House Semi-Annual Garage Sale

South Hill Neighborhood Festival
May 24th, 12 pm – 4 pm, Fraser Street from 44th – 47th Avenues

Salmonberry Storytime
May 24th, 1 – 4 pm, Dunbar Memorial Preschool, lower level of the Dunbar Community Centre
Get a headstart on Sunday’s Salmonberry festival with local children’s authors Nancy Hundal and Tiffany Stone who will be reading from their award-winning books Number 21 and Baad Animals. Stone’s illustrator who doubles as a puppeteer and more will also be on hand: www.dunbarmemorialpreschool.ca
Salmonberry Days Community Fair

28th Annual Sheep Fair
May 25th, 11 am – 1 pm, Maplewood Farms, 405 Seymour River Place
It’s all wool! Watch as a whole flock of sheep are professionally shorn and worked by a Border Collie. Then see members of the Greater Vancouver Spinners and Weavers Guild demonstrate spinning, carding and weaving of wool once it’s left the sheep: www.maplewoodfarm.bc.ca/#events
Vancouver Kidsbooks presents Mélanie Watt

Cultivating Caring Children
June 3rd, 7pm – 9:15 pm, Lord Nelson Elementary School, 2235 Kitchener Street
Colleen and Patti Drobot, certified family therapists and interns of Dr. Gordon Neufeld, author of Hold On To Your Kids, will be talking on common discipline practices that erode a caring spirit in children, challenges to raising socially responsible children, the right hierarchy in the parent/child relationship and more.
