So in case you haven’t heard, guess what opened downtown yesterday? Canada’s largest H&M. That’s right, no more trips out to Burnaby or Coquitlam, H&M has taken up residence in two stories of the more than 28,000 square feet that used to be Holt Renfrew in Pacific Centre.
And purely in the interests of research of course, we took a sneak peek for you earlier in the week. The downtown store carries their whole children’s range from babies to children to H&M Young, for kids up to 14. And you can outfit your tot from soup to nuts, or at least from the inside (socks and undies) out (hair accessories and hats) and everything in between. Some of their kiddie basics come in organic cotton as well. There’s seriously cute and seriously well-priced kids’ stuff here – some adorned with kid-favourite characters like Ariel and Spiderman, and some that’s just plain stylin’. Their boys’ clothes have a certain je ne sais quoi that makes shopping for them almost as much fun as shopping for girls’ duds. We mentioned the great prices right? Sundresses for $6.90, sunglasses for $5.90…the list goes on.
And if you’re shopping for yourself, you’ll feel like a chic and cheap fashionista stocking up on the latest trends for spring and summer. You can kit yourself out in everything from shoes and undies to jackets. There’s casual wear, work wear, fun wear, bikinis – but we didn’t go there. And it’s all funky and fun and won’t break the bank. Dads will also find everything from undies to overcoats to update their wardrobe.
Alas, if you want to get your hands on H&M’s maternity line you’ll still need to head out to Coquitlam, but rumour has it that you’ll be able to find it downtown soon. Fingers crossed. We’ll keep you posted.

And here’s more info on the whole climate action thing:
You will be automatically registered if you filed a 2006 or 2007 income tax return and were a resident of BC as of Dec. 31, 2007. However, the kids. They will also automatically receive the one-time $100 dividend IF they are already registered for the Canada Child Tax Benefit, or CCTB. And almost every child is (FYI: if you receive the universal childcare benefit, you are already registered for the CCTB). Your income can be too high to allow you to get any money from the CCTB but that is not what is important. Provided your kids are registered for the CCTB, you will receive the one-time $100 Climate Dividend and you therefore DO NOT need to apply for your kids.
If you would like to confirm your child’s registration for the CCTB, contact 1-800-387-1193.
