Cici Art Factory

Vancouver mother of three and artist, Liz Clay of Cici Art Factory, had the idea for creating inspiring art for kids when her first daughter was born. After her second daughter came along she decided to jump into the art biz, and now, after the very recent birth of her third daughter, she’s firmly entrenched there.

We’re enamored of her whimsical – but not too cutesy – art with an old fashioned bent (think claw foot tubs and simple dresses) that comes in many different shapes and sizes. There’s one for every budget. As Clay herself says, a bespoke portrait is a careful decision that you consider for awhile, but her prints and lotsas come at a lower price and they’re a great way to get your feet wet in the art buying market.

What’s a lotsa? Lotsas are Clay’s original paintings of repeating shapes in vibrant colours that are still subtle enough that they don’t have to be restricted to kids’ spaces. They’re $90, and you can buy one, buy a few, or buy enough to create your own game of artistic tic tac toe. If you were an early adaptor at Little Nest you may recognize these, they were displayed on the restaurant walls when they opened.

Clay’s portraits are where it all began. They give you the chance to capture your little one’s looks, interests and personality in a piece that you’re bound to treasure. You can customize one of twelve existing themes, or create one all of your own. Portraits start at $240, and if you want personalized art for a smaller price tag, Clay also offers minis that are customizable for $90.

And if you love her art but it’s just not in your current price point, you’ll find a great collection of prints at Cici ranging from animals to versions of Clay’s portraits that fit almost any budget at only $18.

Who is this Cici anyhow? It’s the name Clay’s second daughter gave to her milk bottle.
