It’s a sad but true fact that kids are becoming distanced from nature. And when local earth mamas Katharine Byers and Sylvie de Sousa read Richard Louv’s book Last Child in the Woods: Saving our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder which addresses the need for children to have direct exposure to nature for their healthy childhood development, they had an idea. Why not make engaging and connecting with nature easier and help create more caring citizens and future stewards of our planet? And thus Naturebag was born.

We’ve resisted Po Po’s ponchos from local mum Karen Stark for awhile. Not because we don’t think they’re cute – they’re adorable – but because we aren’t fans of wearing ponchos ourselves. But during a recent moment of weakness we were seduced by a candy apple red poncho in particular and we caved. And boy, are we glad we did.
