The ultimate mum snack

Our tummies are thrilled to have discovered the ultimate mum food – The Granola Girl’s…well…granola. Let’s start with the caveat that until now we haven’t been huge granola fans – neither the store bought nor the homemade kind. But one little sample of Granola Girl and local mum, April Bellia’s granola and we were converts. What’s so great about it? Well we feel a bit like Goldilocks when we say most granola is too sweet, or too dry, but April’s granola is just right.

Ready, set, activate!

Rather than resting on her laurels as a four time Olympian in rowing, Silken Laumann has gone on to found Silken’s Active Kids Network, which focuses on increasing opportunities for unstructured play for children and to write the national bestseller Child’s Play, a guide for reconnecting with our kids that’s full of ideas for building safe, supportive communities and healthy schools. Recently we were lucky enough to have the chance to ask Laumann for more details on helping our kids get more active and connected to their community.

Dedicated Email: Bum Bum Baby

Better Baby Bums are best. Why? Well Better Baby Bums is a new online store that’s a one-stop shop for environmentally friendly, alternative baby care products including better disposable diaper choices, organic cloth diapers, BPA-free baby bottles and sippy cups, …

What to do, what to do?

If you’ve got food allergies it’s a good weekend – for info at least. Plus we’ve got singing, a thought-provoking movie, an animal treasure hunt and more.

Adding to our oeuvre

Sure, sippy cups are great, pretty much indispensable when you’re a parent really, but there is the issue of keeping baby bevies cold (and thus fresh) when you’re out and about. Which is why we’re all about the new (to Canada) Foogo line of products which also fit the safer sipping profile. Foogo is a line of leak-proof vacuumware that keeps bevies (and food) fresh by keeping them at a safe temperature.

Sleep (non)sense

Babies and sleep. It’s a constant battle. How do you get them to fall sleep? How do you get them to sleep through the night? Is it okay to let them cry a little bit? A lot? Why are they waking up so early? So many questions, and so few solid answers. Until now. Sure there are books you can read, theories you can subscribe to, experts you can consult in a pinch, but sometimes your tot just won’t sleep.
