Our tummies are thrilled to have discovered the ultimate mum food – The Granola Girl’s…well…granola. Let’s start with the caveat that until now we haven’t been huge granola fans – neither the store bought nor the homemade kind. But one little sample of Granola Girl and local mum, April Bellia’s granola and we were converts.
What’s so great about it? Well we feel a bit like Goldilocks when we say most granola is too sweet, or too dry, but April’s granola is just right. Plus it’s packed with great ingredients – organic hemp hearts for essential fats and protein; dried cranberries and goji berries for vitamins and antioxidants; and sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut and almonds for flavour and crunch.
And we figure it’s the ultimate food for mums. Each one pound bag comes with bigger chunks of granola, almost like bars, as well as “crumbs” and the chunks are perfect for grabbing and going. So if you find you manage to feed your kids but it’s a lot harder find time to feed yourself , and what mum hasn’t, all you need to do is grab a chunk ‘o granola and at least you know you’re putting good stuff into your system – even if you’re munching in the car or while pushing the stroller. April’s granola is seriously filling as well, keeping you going all morning, afternoon, or evening. We love it with plain yogurt for breakfast. Your kids will love it too, but at $10 a pound you won’t want to share.
How can you get your hands on some? April will be at Portobello West (with samples!) on the last Sunday of every month as well as the Got Craft? Show on May 4th, or you can contact her directly through her website and place an order.
