Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd so this weekend is all about being green. And while you’re out and about on Sunday don’t forget that it’s also the Sun Run as you may be thwarted by road closures, crowds and whatnot. . .
EPIC: The Vancouver Sun Sustainable Living Expo
April 18th, 1 pm – 9pm, April 19th, 10 am – 9 pm & April 20th, 10 am – 5 pm, Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre
This is a seriously sustainable event with green fashion from some of your faves like Green Bean Baby and Lola & Lucas, food sampling (including organic wine and beer), contests and a great kids’ zone with arts, crafts & science experiments. Bike The Blossoms from Slow Food Vancouver
April 19th, 9 am – 4 pm, start at VanDusen Botanical Gardens, 5251 Oak St.
This self-guided tour encourages cyclists to travel at their own pace while enjoying beautiful blossoms and tasty food and drink. There will be special presentations and farmer’s market displays at the Kits and Britannia Community Centres as well. Earth Day Celebration

Playing for the Park
April 19th, 10 am – 12 pm, Coal Harbour Community Centre, 480 Broughton Street
In honour of Earth Day the Stanley Park Ecology Centre is presenting a family concert with beloved local children’s entertainers Bobs & Lolo. The cost is $8 and the proceeds will benefit the Stanley Park Ecology Society. Pre-registration is recommended: www.westendcc.ca
Mt. Pleasant Earth Day
April 20th, 10 am – 4 pm, Mount Pleasant Community Centre, 3161 Ontario Street
On Sunday you can swap your plants and hand in your used electronics for recycling. It’s a great opportunity to get rid of old computer parts and cell phones sustainably. Call 604.713.1888 for a list of electronic items they’ll be collecting.
Earth Day in the LSCR

Children’s Sample Sale

Okay, so the only thing about this sale that could possibly be construed as green is that is starts on Earth Day, but the savings are great. You’ll find goodies from MEXX and Deux Par Deux for kids from three months on up to twelve-years, though there’s more of a size range for girls. Note: Cash only.
