Early Birds

2008 Vaisakhi Parade Celebration

Symbolizing diversity and multiculturalism, this is one of the largest Vaisakhi celebrations in North America and it includes food, fun and a parade. It’s going to be seriously busy, so stake out your spot early: www.surrey.ca
Home Depot – Kids Planter/Photo Box Workshop
April 12th, 10 am – 12 pm, all Home Depot Locations

Baby Talk Open House

I Heart Crafts Bazaar

Solar Power Roadshow
April 13th, 12 pm – 3 pm, Science World
Check out the cheapest vehicle in the world to operate. It’s an electric pickup truck that runs for only 30 cents a day. There’ll be free tailgate face-painting and a renewable energy colouring contest as well. Let’s just hope the rain lets up: www.scienceworld.bc.ca
My Mother’s Story
Sunday, May 11th, 2 pm & 7:30 pm, UNITY of Vancouver, 5840 Oak Street
20 local women actors create this annual play, which combines their mothers’ stories into a moving show that prompts recollections on family, society and the history of women. It sells out super fast (like weeks in advance!) so we wanted to let you know about it now. And the my mother’s story movement has grown to include a book, workshops, forums, and the ultimate challenge, which gives you a chance to share your mother’s story: mymothersstory.org

The Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market will make its debut on Sunday, May 4, and will become a Sunday fixture in Steveston from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sept. 28 in the parking lot of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site.
