Cherry Blossom Festival

Why not join Vancouver in celebrating Earth Hour by turning off your lights for one hour from 8 to 9 pm on the 29th. We think going dark sounds like a potential romantic opportunity as well. . .

Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival

March 25th – April 30th, various locations
Spring seems to have sprung – though it’s gotten awfully cold again – and the blossoms are definitely in bloom, so why not celebrate with tree walks, trolley tours and biking the blossoms. Budding photogs will want to take part in the Blossom Watch Photo Contest, too bad there isn’t a junior category…either way, it’s a great, unhurried way to celebrate Spring with your tots: www.vancouvercherryblossomfestival.com

Kitsilano Neighborhood House: Strengthening Connections
March 28th, 10 am – 2pm, UBC Acadia Park Commonsblock, 2707 Tennis Crescent
This multicultural fair offers free vision checks for three-year-olds, and info on nutrition, child development and more. For kids there’s a fun corner and family story time as well. Call Sandra at 604.377.6151 for more info.

Vancouver Orchid Festival
March 29th, 9am – 5 pm & March 30th, 10 am – 4 pm, Van Dusen Botanical Gardens, 5251 Oak Street
Okay, we wouldn’t necessarily recommend this event for all children, but if your child likes flowers and appreciates Ikebana (or is too little to care) then they’ll love this fest of all things orchid. Click here to check out Van Dusen Gardens family friendly events as well: www.orchidfest.com

Spring Celebration
March 29th, 3:30 pm, The Main Plant Store (19th & Main)
Ventriloquist Kellie Haines brings Kamilla the Frog and Magrua the Bird to the Main Plant Store this Saturday to celebrate Spring. It’s free, but any donations will go to the B.C. Children’s Hospital: www.kelliehaines.com

Sistahood Celebration: The Remedy
March 30th, 11 am – 5 pm, Heritage Hall (Main & 15th)
This all-ages, all-day party includes a community market of virtual arts & crafts, a kids’ zone for mask and stilt making (do lessons come with that?), as well as lots of live music to sing, dance and hop along to: www.sistahoodcelebration.com

And if you’re at Portobello West this Saturday or Sunday be sure to drop by. Not only will we have chocolate from Mink to perk you up, but we’ll have a great door prize with goodies from Bamboobino, Meals for Mums, momcafé, Bug & Pickle, Bugalug and more! If you’re already a subscriber, just put your name in the pot. And if you want to join our list, now’s the time as you’ll be entered for the doorprize and our regular monthly contest!

Oops! We got the phone number wrong for Indishpensable yesterday, it should have read 604.731.3474.
