St Patrick’s Day Parade

Spring Break’s starting and St. Patrick’s Day and Easter are coming up, so we’ve gone a little long this week to include some Spring Break fun along with our regular events, tune in next week for Easter fun:

The Business of Being Born
March 14th, 7 pm, Capilano College Library Room 322
This free screening of a collaboration between actress Ricki Lake and filmmaker Abby Epstein examines and questions the way American women have babies, interlacing birth stories with historical, political and scientific insights, as well as eye-opening stats about the maternity care system. CelticFest
March 12th – 16th, Various venues and locations
This year’s CelticFest has lots on offer, including the 5th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on the 16th from 11:00 am – 1:15 pm. It’ll be overflowing with pipers, drummers, dancers, musicians, acrobats and more. The festival offers lots of other family-friendly events, click here for a full listing. Kids Only Swap Meet
March 15th, 9 am – Noon, West Point Grey Community Centre, 4397 West 2nd Avenue
Here’s your chance to buy and sell children’s clothing, toys and sports equipment, plus the event runs in conjunction with Family Playtime. Admission is free, tables are going for $15. For more info call: 604.257.8140

Family Information Fair 2008
March 15th, 1 pm – 4 pm, Kingsgate Mall, 370 East Broadway
Focusing on children from zero to six-years-old parents can learn about health, nutrition, safety, parental support groups and more. Dr. Y Minnes, Child Psychiatrist, will be talking on Practical Parenting in the library at 2:30 pm. For more info visit: www.kingsgatemall.com/events.htm

Surrey Public Library’s 25th Birthday Celebration
March 15th, 11 am – 4 pm, Guildford Library, 15105 – 105 Ave
The Surrey library’s celebrating big time with entertainers The Trollsons, Sam’s Rot’n Pot’n Pan Band, Children of the Rainbow and more. Plus there’ll be readings, puppet shows, crafts and more. 11th Annual Spring Break Festival

Rogers Play Dome

Kids under three get in for free (that’s because safety reasons permit them from going on the rides), while older kids ride the ferris wheel, the tilt-a-whirl and more (a lot of the rides are height-dependant): www.bcplacestadium.com/playdome08.shtml

Wildlife Week
