As a mum finding time to cook nutritional dinners for you and your family is challenging to say the least, but for new mums it’s nearly impossible. Between sleep deprivation, feeding, diapering and meeting everyone’s basic needs, managing to cook as well can seem overwhelming. Which is why we love the concept behind the newly-launched Meals for Mums.
The brainchild of two local tired and hungry new mums – Meals for Mums delivers healthy, well-rounded meals to your door weekly. They have time to think of all the things you don’t – using whole foods, alternative grains and good fats in their dishes. They also source locally whenever possible and use free-range, unmedicated chicken; premium beef with no growth hormones, steroids or antibiotics; no GMO tofu or corn; and no artificial colours or flavours. Showing off their environmentally-friendly bent they offer two different packaging options – reusable glass dishes or recyclable foil containers. Many of their meals are freezable as well, so even though they only deliver once a week, you can stock up.
As for the food? Well it’s great. So far we’ve sampled from their Grown Ups/Big Kids Menu, and enjoyed the Coconut Chicken Bowl, Salmon Risotto and Corn and Sweet Potato Chowder – and so the less picky of our two tots. Next we’re eager to test their Dessert Menu and try out their Kids Portions. It’s good they’ll be updating their menu seasonally, as we can see becoming regulars.
But what about price? The cost comes out at about the same as good take out and a double portion served two adults and one toddler, with enough left over for an small lunch the next day. We also felt rather noble for eating so many veggies (and enjoying
them).
So, if you have a friend with a newborn and you’ve been meaning to cook a meal for her and drop it by, there’s no need to bother. Get Meals for Mums to do it instead, and why not throw in a meal for yourself as well?

HI! Checked out the dandelionkids website and the Little Friends duvet and sham is a terrific item to introduce little ones to the world and all its diverse cultures. Am considering it for my little girl’s bedroom. Thanks for setting up the rules to the contest so I could discover a great website :-). Good day!
This is an entry for the dandelion kids contest. I would love to buy their budda sling if I won the competition. Thanks Yoyomama!
