As a mum finding time to cook nutritional dinners for you and your family is challenging to say the least, but for new mums it’s nearly impossible. Between sleep deprivation, feeding, diapering and meeting everyone’s basic needs, managing to cook as well can seem overwhelming. Which is why we love the concept behind the newly-launched Meals for Mums.

Dunbar’s Kokopelli Café isn’t new on the local kid-friendly dining scene, in fact it’s practically a Dunbar tradition, but just in case you’re not already a convert, we wanted to spread the word. You won’t have to suffer through mediocre adult fare just to get your fingers on kid’s food. Their menu features light meals, home baking, smoothies and really, really good coffee as well as handy kid-sized portions of mac ‘n cheese and grilled cheese – all for under $3.

When we wrote about bamboo products for babes a few weeks ago lots of you took us up on offer to write about bamboo products for mamas as well, and that will be happening, we promise. But to tide you over until that that day, why not visit Granville Island Organix?
More play, less work

The daily grind of parenting – keeping everyone clean, fed, dry, and just getting them out the door – can be so time consuming that there never seems to be any time left for the fun stuff, like play. We asked Sharon Selby, a local child counsellor, and the brains behind the Phonics Wizard, about the importance of play, and how we can do more of it with our kids.

Some mums can get by without ‘em, but we’ve always found that nursing pillows are a necessity. So we passed our pillow onto an intrepid breastfeeding tester, who liked hers so much she wouldn’t give it back. “I can’t imagine one night without it,” she protested.
