Oh. . .mop. . .

omop from method

Household chores have never been our favourite thing, and that’s unlikely to ever change. So when products come along that make cleaning easier and more fun as well as less toxic, we’re all over that. We’ve been eagerly anticipating the Canadian arrival of one the newer entries into Method’s oeuvre, the omop. And it’s finally here. Currently only available in limited release at some Safeway stores (call 1.877.SAFEWAY and get them to check locations for you), you’ll be able to find it at Canadian Tire in March and Shoppers Drug Mart in May.

Why do we love the omop? Let us count the ways:

It does double duty as a mop and a broom, and if you buy a starter kit, all you’ll need is a few extra bits and bobs for it for both your wood and tile flooring. And you know we love things that multi-task.

The omop’s sweeping cloths are compostable and derived from corn, which is renewable. Turn it from a broom into a mop by using a microfiber cloth that you simply rinse, wring out and hang to dry after using – you can just use it again, and again, and again.

omop starter kitFor wood floors it comes with an almond-scented cleanser you squirt on and then mop up, while for other flooring they have a lightly scented lemon-ginger cleanser. And the cleansers are non-toxic. And since so many things get on, and eaten off, the floor when you have kids that’s got to be a good thing.

And it’s designed ergonomically, the handle curves and bends to make it easier to access the cheerios under the couch, the stove, the fridge. . .all while being easier on your back.

Now that we’re officially converts we’re wondering how do we get rid of the other mops and paraphernalia cluttering up our broom cupboard – in a green way?
