There’s so much going on around town this weekend (as if you don’t have enough to do already!) so we’re going to keep it really short and sweet. Remember the title of each ‘to do’ is a link to more info.

Bloedel Conservatory Free Day
December 14th, 10 am – 9 pm, Bloedel Conservatory, Queen Elizabeth Park
Escape to the tropics (for free!) this Friday. Celebrating their 38th Birthday, you’ll find twinkling lights, poinsettias and amaryllis as well as free-flying birds, McCaws, parrots, koi and seasonal plants for sale in the gift shop.

Farmer’s Winter Market Holiday Market
Saturday, December 15th & Sunday, December 16th, 10 am – 5 pm, Heritage Hall, 3102 Main Street
This is the 12th Annual ever-popular Holiday Market packed with local crafts, prepared food, and seasonal and fresh fare to get you all stocked up for the holidays. Different vendors each day. Admission $2/day. We’ve pulled this highlight from our Craft Fairs Listings.

Emotions, an Interactive Puppet Show
December 15th, 2 pm, Kitsilano Neighborhood House, 2325 West 7th Avenue
This fundraiser for the Neighborhood House presents Emotions, an interactive puppet show and concert by children’s educator and entertainer, Marla Rosen. Children are invited to participate and explore their feelings.

Carol Ships on the North Shore
December 15th, 8 pm, Panorama Park, Deep Cove
Keep your feet firmly on dry land while enjoying not just the lights and songs of the Carol Ships, but cocoa, bonfires, craft workshops, choirs and perhaps even a visit from Santa.

Amahl and the Night Visitors, A Children’s Opera
December 15th & 16th, 7 pm, 370 Mathers, West Vancouver
The North Shore Unitarian Church presents this one-act opera for children by Gian Carlo Menotti. It sounds like a nice – short- dose of culture.

Peak of Christmas on Grouse Mountain
December 1 – 24, Different events throughout each day
Catch the Karen Magnussen Foundation Ice Show on Sunday at 5:30 pm. And that’s in addition to visiting Santa’s Workshop, meeting reindeer, listening to carols and more.

Portobello West Market
December 16th, 12 pm – 6 pm, Rocky Mountaineer Station, 1755 Cottrell Street
It’s the last market of the year, and a great chance to stock up on gifts you still need for almost anyone on your list, from fashionista to new born babe.
