Wee little man

It’s easy to find over-the-top, fun, frivolous frocks for little girls to wear, but when it comes to little boys it can be a lot harder to find clothing that’s unique and appeals to their genetic predisposition to all things manly like trains, and trucks and construction sites. Which is why Wee Dude’s signature overalls made us stop and take a second look.
Just as the party dress we profiled a few weeks ago was a true splurge, so are Wee Dude’s overalls, as they cost $89.95. But like the dress – we want to provide equal opportunity splurging here – they’ve got longevity. The adjustable straps and generous leg cuffs allow the overalls to be lengthened as
your little one grows, giving them a shelf life of about a year. The double fabric layers in the front panels and extra stitching ensure they hold up to your wee dude’s rough and tumble antics. Designed for those of three and up, who no longer have diapers to keep their pants in place, the overalls are held up by the straps, and they’re easy for little potty-trained ones to take on and off, which is key. Not just durable, they’re stylin’ too – with a slim silhouette rather than being baggy and bunchy.
Deborah Marshall who hails from Scotland but is now located in Vancouver, is the creative brains behind Wee Dude, and she’s a rarity in that she designs clothes exclusively for boys. Aside from the overalls the line also contains cotton-trimmed fleece hoodies, shirts (not tees) with a square neckline and front buttons, and graphic tees as well. We can’t wait to see the knee-length overalls come next spring.
You can find Wee Dude online at: www.weedude.com, and they’ll be at the November 25th and December 16th Portobello West markets as well. Just look for the guy in the kilt…
