Sure the weekend is full of spooky, scary fun – we’ll let you in on all the details tomorrow, but what about Halloween itself? Lots of communities are rallying round with special kid-friendly, candy-laden events that offer alternatives to traditional trick or treating.

Mount Pleasant Community Centre Halloween Boo Party
Wednesday, October 31st, 10: 15 am – 12:15 am
Mount Pleasant’s regular Parent & Tot gym will be invaded by spooks and Halloween fun including games, crafts and treats.

The Great Marpole Trick-or-Treat
Wednesday, October 31, 4pm – 5pm
Get started candy gathering early by hunting for merchants with the not-so-elusive orange pumpkin decal on their windows or doors. Prime hunting ground is along Granville Street between 63rd & 71st Avenues.

Yaletown Halloween Trick or Treat Parade
Wednesday, October 31, 3:30 – 5:30 pm
You’d best boohave yourself during this fun and safe way to trick or treat from merchant to merchant. Last year over 400 tiny ghosties and their parents stocked up on Halloween loot, so if you’re driving in the area keep your eyes peeled for spooky little ones.

Collingwood Community Halloween Party
Wednesday, October 31, 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Safeway at the corner of Kingsway & Tyne will be hosting this Halloween fest. Dress up to take part in the Costume Competition, and there’ll be Jack-o-Lantern judging as well. What’s the betting there’ll be lots of treats on hand?

Halloween Carnival at the Roundhouse
Wednesday, October 31st, 4:30 – 7:30 pm
Ghoulish games, creepy crafts and crazy costumes. Get your face painted, explore the “Creepy Hollow” forest full of spooky surprises, and don’t leave without your bag of Halloween treats.

Halloween On the Heights
Wednesday, October 31, Wednesday, 4 pm – 10 pm
Burnaby Heights goes all out for Halloween. Beginning with trick or treating with merchants at 4 pm, you can then go and ride the Halloween Train at Confederation Park’s Burnaby Central Railway, and follow all that excitement up with family fireworks at Gilmore Community School.
