Or that the Go Diego Go! Animal Rescue Boat was just recalled due to yet another lead paint issue? It’s easy to find over-the-top, fun, frivolous frocks for little girls to wear, but when it comes to little boys it can be a lot harder to find clothing that’s unique and appeals to their genetic predisposition to all things manly like trains, and trucks and construction sites. Which is why Wee Dude’s signature overalls made us stop and take a second look.

The wonders of Vitamin D have been in the news a lot of late, but with all the conflicting recommendations it’s hard to know if we mamas should be supplementing or not. Vitamin D, aka the “sunshine vitamin”, is a fat-soluble hormone that the body synthesizes naturally. A bit of a wonder vitamin, it can strengthen your bones, prevent different types of cancer, ward off multiple sclerosis and autoimmune disorders and fight infections.

It may have been years since you’ve visited a pumpkin patch, but once you have kids it’s a de rigueur fall event and a fun way to fill a morning. While there’s no dearth of pumpkin patches around town, one of our favourites is the Westham Island Herb Farm. The farm’s annual pumpkin patch offers pumpkins of all shapes and sizes and in a range of colours including untraditional white, grey, red and variegated varieties. At the farm you can either grab a wheel barrow and pick your own, or choose a pre-harvested beauty.
