We have your Saturday all planned out for you, but we have to warn you, you’ll be exhausted (and satisfied and well-rounded) at the end of it all. . .
Beansprouts Back to School Sale & Celebration
Saturday, September 22nd, 11 am – 6 pm, 4305 Main Street @ 27th
Start your day with a sidewalk sale extraordinaire. Stock up on kid’s gear from Zutano, GSUS, Paul Frank, Meli Meli, See Kai Run, Naturino and more for up to 70% off. In addition to great deals there’ll also be face painting and live entertainment from Bobs and Lolo at 4 pm.
PEDAL Fest
Saturday, September 22nd, Noon – 6 pm, Between Main & Quebec Streets at 17th
After you’ve rounded out your tot’s fall wardrobe at Beansprouts why not head on down to PEDAL (Pedal Energy Development Alternatives) Fest where you can celebrate all things bike? There will be performances by The Sprockettes, the B:C:Clettes and BRAKES and live music from Blackberry Wood and Meaghan Rose, and you can get your bike checked out by a mechanic. We can’t wait to pedal our own fruit smoothie.
Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival
Saturday, September 22nd, 5 pm – 8:30 pm, Slocan Park – 2750 East 29th Avenue (@ Slocan Street)
And if you’ve still got energy left after all that you can celebrate the full moon and the harvest. Start at the Harvest Fair at Slocan Park at 5 pm. It’ll be followed at 7:15 pm by a Ravine Lantern Walk from Slocan Park to Renfrew Park (3900 Renfrew Street @ East 24th Avenue). At Renfrew Park there’ll be lantern art and a performance-finale. It’s a great way to get your little ones in touch with their pagan roots, plus who doesn’t love lanterns? Check their site for info on the pre-festival Lantern Workshops at Nootka School. And if you’re truly moonstruck, you won’t want to miss the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Gardens on Sunday from 10 am – 4:30 pm.
And on Sunday? Well, we’ll be recuperating from Saturday.
