Make mine mink

As mums we tend to read about hot new spots and think fondly back to the days when we patronized such establishments. Well, imagine our glee when we found out that the newest must-visit chocolate shop we keep reading about is child-friendly.
Mink Chocolates, at the base of the Terminal City Building, has an amazing ouevre of cheekily named, delicious chocolate bars. Who can resist trying Ginger or Maryanne? (dark chocolate with ginger), Mermaid’s Choice (dark chocolate with burnt caramel), and P.B. Hint of J (peanut butter and grape jelly). And they use local and organic ingredients whenever possible.
And then there are their blended drinks. No pouring of milk over ice cubes here, instead you can opt for Blended Iced Coffee, Iced Chocolate or Iced Mocha (in your choice of milk or dark chocolate) blended to create a cross between the best milkshake ever and a Slurpee. So seriously good that we’ve considered driving downtown and dealing with the parking just to get our hands on one of these.
For new babes they offer the Welcome Minky box which fits either three chocolate bars and a onesie emblazoned with the easy-to-embrace slogan “If I’m crying give the nearest adult chocolate!” or six chocolate bars. For new mums they recommend starting with Certifiably Nutty, Open in Case of Emergency and No Grumpy. Rumour has it they throw great baby showers as well.
The menu also includes individual bon bons, personal fondues, S’Mores, bevvies and bedecked Belgium waffles. We found the plain waffles were a perfect treat for the under twos, who really shouldn’t be indulging in chocolate anyhow.
Located “On the Park” on Hastings Street, there’s lots of rooms for strollers inside, and outside seating so kids can run off all the sugar in the park while you savour yours more slowly.

This is a wonderful place to take your grandchildren! Warm and welcoming and where you can buy the best for your little ones. As a grandmother I love the chocolate and believe it is the best in the province….if not the country. Yeah for Mink Chocolates.
