Best Canadian Baby Names

You lean towards shopping locally. You’re making a stab at eating locally. But will you name your child locally? Don’t worry, we’re not suggesting you burden your tiny babe with the moniker Pacific or Gray Rainy Summer, we’re just thinking you might want to compare the choice you’re about to make against the BC Vital Statistics Agency’s list of most popular baby names: www.vs.gov.bc.ca/babynames/ After all, it’s nice to know if the name Ezekiel will make your little one unique, or just one of the crowd.

And for those of us who named our children in the past few years, it’s fun to peruse the list and see if we chose trendsetting names or made choices that didn’t even crack the list.

Those of you who think nationally might want to check out the new book, The Best Baby Names for Canadians, which gives you a cross-country run down. And if you’re thinking globally, you can see how your babe’s handle stacks up against this list of popular baby names from around the world.

And just so you know, there were seven Ezekiels born in BC in 2006.

Natural PodJuly’s big share: We’re modeling such good sharing that we can’t understand why our kids have so much trouble with it. When you sign up for yoyomama in July you’ll be entered to win a $200 gift certificate from Natural Pod, a great local online source for natural items that meet all your kid’s needs from teething to playtime.

Me too! Already a subscriber? Don’t worry, we’re not leaving you out. Every time you use the forward feature at the bottom of your daily email to share yoyomama with a friend, you’ll be entered in our contest too.

We’re currently coveting the Farmyard Mini-Album from Natural Pod.
