What’s going on around town this weekend? Lots, that’s what!

2007 Heineken Yaletown Street Party
Saturday, July 21st, 12 pm – 6 pm, Kids Zone – 1000 block Mainland Street
You may be tempted by the beer garden, live music, and battling bartenders and chefs, but your little ones will want to spend time at the Kids Zone perched above the dog agility show on the loading docks. They can cavort in the Dalmatian-style bouncy castle/slide, get tattooed and face painted, do crafts, sing along…and all under cover of canopies which will provide shade or shelter, as needed. Plus you’ll want to sneak away to get great deals at Beautymark’s annual sidewalk sale while pregnant mamas can take this opportunity to check out new kid on the Hamilton block, Vie Maternity. More details on their website: www.yaletowninfo.com

Canada’s Parks Day
Saturday, July 21st
From sea to shining sea we’re celebrating our parks today. If you aren’t able to celebrate at a scheduled event, there’s no reason not to appreciate parks closer to home. Kids over four can enter the art contest by creating a poster encouraging using and caring for our parks. More details of events in parks across BC: www.env.gov.bc.ca

Commercial Drive Car-Free Festival
Sunday, July 22nd, noon – 6 pm, 1st Avenue to Venables
It’s the second coming of this event this summer, which opens with a kids’ bike parade, and espouses cars in favour of events in and around the street, including live music, roving artists and performers. You can even get up on their soapbox if there’s something you feel strongly about. More details on their website: www.commercialdrivefestival.org

Luminaria Victoria 2007

Saturday, July 21st, Beacon Hill Park & St. Ann’s Academy, 5 pm – 11 pm
Those Island mamas have been agitating again, so we wanted to let them know about this year’s festival. Everything starts at 5 pm in St. Ann’s Academy with some face painting and lantern making for kids and then revs up in Beacon Hill Park at 7:00. This is one of those events we think it’s worth keeping the kids up for. More details on their website: www.luminaravictoria.com

July’s big share: We’re modeling such good sharing that we can’t understand why our kids have so much trouble with it. When you sign up for yoyomama in July you’ll be entered to win a $200 gift certificate from Natural Pod, a great local online source for natural items that meet all your kid’s needs from teething to playtime.

Me too! Already a subscriber? Don’t worry, we’re not leaving you out. Every time you use the forward feature at the bottom of your daily email to share yoyomama with a friend, you’ll be entered in our contest too.

The littlest ones we know would like to party on the street with Natural Pod’s Elephant on Wheels Pull Toy.
