To market

Today is the first day of the weekly Wednesday Riley Park Farmer’s Market. Farmer’s markets are great places to stock up on everything from local produce to baked goods to cheese and dairy. They’re also an entertaining way to introduce your kids to the fact that food doesn’t originate at the grocery store and potentially get them interested in growing their own fruits and veggies. Even if it’s just herbs on your windowsill. After all, studies show that kids who are involved with growing and cooking their food have a better diet, so we’re hoping that includes helping mum pick out veggies in an open-air, festive setting.

    HI there,
Just wanted to update your info in that Riley Farmer’s Market has relocated…..to a more central / urban location right in front of the main bus station (former train station) on Main at Terminal. Its on Wednesday afternoons starting up in June I believe. Trout Lake market began this past Saturday and their location has shifted slightly to the north end of Trout Lake park – near the doggy beach which toddlers LOVE (previously it was beside the Trout Lake community centre).
You might want to update your postings…..I can’t agree enough that farmers’ markets are great places to bring your kids! Especially with the whole park at your feet when you go to Trout Lake (playground, lake, open grass space, nice loop walk to stroll your baby to sleep…..); and even at the new Main Street location, there is open grassy area to hang out on w/ your little one.
thanks and have a great day!
