The skin you’re in
You probably anoint your baby’s skin with lotions and potions that tend toward the natural and organic. But what about your skin? Doesn’t it deserve the same tender loving care? Up to 60% of what we put on our skins is absorbed into our bodies, so it makes sense to avoid unnecessary chemicals and additives and opt for organic for yourself as well.
Skin Deep, the newly re-launched website from the Environmental Working Group, a US environmental watchdog group, allows you to check the safety ratings of the products you and your family use. While the über-organic, Canadian-based website Saffron Rouge, which carefully culls organic beauty products for the best of the best, is worth a visit for more info on the wherefore and the whys of organics.
Organic skincare options now run the gamut from lower-priced lines like Kiss My Face, to mid-range cult-favourites like Dr. Hauschka , to high-end, like our favourite splurge, Care by Stella McCartney.
All the products mentioned above are available at Capers and Choices, except Care by Stella McCartney which is available at the new, must-visit-even-just-to-look Holt Renfrew.
Next week we’ll bring you some of our favourite organic baby beauty lines.
