Music for the Masses (the ’70s)

You’ve just dropped your kids off. You’re alone in the car. And then half an hour of driving later you realize that instead of taking the opportunity to listen to your own music, you’ve been mindlessly humming along to theirs. Argh! With this collection of hip, roadworthy tunes from the ’70s that the whole family can enjoy, at least you’ll be humming along mindlessly to forgotten oldies that’ll take you back to the days 8-track tapes and AM radios.

Note: Just like last week’s mix of ’60s music, these come expressly recommended for long weekend road trips:

They Long To Be (Close To You) The Carpenters
Swing Low Sweet Chariot Eric Clapton
Silly Love Songs Paul McCartney & Wings
Crocodile Rock Elton John
ABC Jackson 5
Mamma Mia ABBA
Rebel, Rebel David Bowie
Joy to the World Three Dog Night
Y.M.C.A. The Village People
Sweet Talking Woman Crosby, Stills & Nash
Yellow Submarine Electric Light Orchestra
Love Will Keep Us Together Captain & Tennille

All the songs are available on iTunes.
