We’re big fans of coffee shops that have enough space for stroller maneuvering, know that a kid’s hot chocolate really should be called “slightly warm” chocolate, and check before they ladle on the whipped cream. Which is why we were tickled pink when we ventured beyond our usual haunts to discover Café Rustico (3136 Main Street, 604-872-3444, between 15th & 16th).
Not only do they offer all of the above, but they make a great cup of big-girl coffee too. The menu includes over 20 kinds of biscotti, great paninis and soups, and a light pesto pasta that was a hit with our kids when we stopped in for an impromptu lunch. The fact that an impromptu lunch with tots in tow can even work there speaks volumes…
The best part? The gregarious owner salutes tiny tykes with a “Ciao Bambino!” and a big smile whether they’re coming or going.
